QR codes have officially failed. When google dumped support for them back in April of this year that pretty much sealed the QR code's fate.

On the contrary. When used properly, qr codes can be extremely successful. Any bit of printed material that does not include a QR code is a waste of opportunity. Also, we have mainstream products that a video is the best way to sell it so we added QR codes to them and increased sales.

I do a ton of print advertising and have seen a completely different result. I just had a customer run an ad in two huge newspapers for 5 days. Less than 80 people used the qr code.
I've personally tried it on club flyers and ads and see very few people using it.

Maybe in your country. They've failed in the US.

I make stickers with legal bud ads and QR to the "Buy it now" mobile page using Bitly QR codes and stick them around town in bathroom stalls and makes a surprisingly large amount of sales. I'm in Ohio but also in a huge campus so that might be part of it. Move in week is also great to make sales with poster pics with a QR below it.
QR won't go away just because Google stopped using it, it's open source. |

One thing with QR Codes is that you have to offer an incentive for people to use it.
Also, the majority of folks out there don't understand what exactly QR Codes are. |

Once your area uses them, then your ok.
In London they seem to be used. But in Leeds (UK) I have not seen any, except on a van. The thing is, they cost nothing to do and everyone has a mobile phone.

What about outsourcing and paying someone in a big city like NYC or Tokyo to print out QRs and stick them around town or to place local ads for you and pay per picture they send for proof? I might be interested in doing something like that.
