Newb: Pay per download vs. Membership paysite model
Started in the industry over a year ago by specializing in niche and micro-niche fetish content. I started by selling on clip sites and over the course of the year have done well. I want to take my own site to the next level and offer our content directly to consumers, without the use of a clip site. Mainstream porn tends to go with membership sites whereas fetish content especially from smaller production companies utilizes a clip store. I need some veteran advice as to whether a pay-per-download/vod site vs. a membership paysite will allow me to monetize my content better.

My mantra is " content is the King" or " shit in shit out" .... I run VOD, DVD, Download tangibles and am doing well...so, of you have a good content ( not too many competing) then you are going to do well, if you have some "skunks doing feel licking" you may as well close your shop.

yea definitely wrong section. if u posted in the right section, the thread would be full.
our cms has a subscription and ppv option, but the ppv option is rarely used successfully. ppv is a hard sell in porn these days. surfers care about value and ppv is bad value. subscriptions are a hard sell too, but easier than ppv.

Where I get caught up at is the non-mainstream content on clips site. The business model is pay per download and you have customers paying two, three, or even four times the cost of an average monthly membership to download these clips.
