I suspect the brand/logo is worth more than the porn side these days.

I suspect you would make far more by simply leasing the brand out to firms, such as those who make clothes, or even just do your own playboy range of goods.

I wonder if the 'porn' side of playboy is now its negative side.

I see (in the UK) women and girls young as 5 wearing items of clothing with the playboy logo on them. Its not seen as porn these days but one of those 'pink' girly things. A bit like sindy is.

I do wonder if playboy now shouyld just supply girls with a range of products. And hire such as paris hilton to front/promote it all.

I do not think it even takes a great one.

All you need is a few playboy apps, and lease the logo to be put onto a rage of iphones, flog a bit of playboy perfume, and get a car firm to do a range of cars named playboy (probably a french or italian car firm). You would make over 300 million proffit in a year.

One problem is that the Playboy brand is perceived differently in different countries/cultures.

In the U.S. it's still a no-no for many mainstream brands, while in other countries (namely eastern/central Europe) you have the likes of P&G sponsoring Playboy events. And I saw, in Poland, middle aged housewives buying PB for tips on how to get dressed etc, and sharing them with their daughters. It's positioned/perceived not far from Cosmopolitan there, or maybe Vogue.

When you run a global brand, this inconsistency is an issue.

i could see clubs damaging the brand.

playboy clubs are out of touch.

there are lots of table dancing clubs. in the uk these are now almost all nude. so unless playboy go full nude, i think they would not do well. and if they do go full nude then would people (women) want to buy playboy products?

you need to give the logo 'class'.

thats the hard thing they have to do is make the logo about quality.

in the uk i have seen the logo on some right old rubbish.

What if they went away from nudity all together and made them more like a Hooters instead of a regular club? You go in, get some decent food at a decent price, watch a game and hang out and be surrounded by hot girls dressed in the bunny outfits.

It is hard to say. If they made them like Hooters I think some people would go, but like the one mentioned above they made it an all encompassing casino/resort/club type of place. If they built those in vacation hot spots they could attract a lot of attention to them I think.

The one major problem with a Hooters type place would be the stigma of the name. A lot of people would think it was a strip club or they would associate it with naked women and might steer clear of it.

sites such as that, metart and so on seem to do what playboy did, but to be honest far better.

playboy is like the uk woolworths. they did everything ok, but not great, and other shops simply did things better, while woolworths lived in the past.

in the uk, nuts, hfm, zoo and many more mags set up. they had topless and nude pics likeplayboy (soft porn), but did it much better, and have become big sellers. playboy never changed or brought out other mags. it lives in the past.
