will websites still be around in ten years time?

With people more and more using aps on phones (and now computers and tv's) to conect to the web, will people realy bother with websites in ten years time?

For instance my mate has youtube on his panasonic tv. he watches the films on that and does not bother with his laptop.

Many people use ONLY phone aps for facebook. I myself found facebook seems to work better as an app.

I could see a time where rather than buying a pc, people just buy pda/smart phones or touch pads such as ipads. these will be app crazy.

Skype and icq have been around for years, but these are not websites, they simply use the web for cheap and easy conection.

While years ago people would make personal sites on yahoo and so on, now people just use facebook.

And I have found very few if any big businesses have a good website to shop from. But often there phone app works far better.

You forgot to mention the Black Death.

I think we should all think of new ways to make money. And not new ways to make paying for porn less attractive, that's an old app.

Depends if they make harddrive that big 'We pre-installed internet on it'

I belive in redundacy, thinking of the movie Avatar where everyone is connected
and the tree is instead a server. There will always be websites, or distribution centers
or whatever people will call them in the future.

Was running a cluster back in the early 1990's that i shared with a friend in Stockholm 600km away, worked fine, now they call it cloud... The same stuff, diffrent names.

I still see a 'cloud' as a multi cluster setup, as i did learn back in the days, but i can be wrong aswell, the new 18y guys knows more than the guys who invented it.

no

he was stood telling those who were making it that they were wrong and that when he was younger he sold tapestrys to all the kings and that he was the best. he used to sell his tapestrys cheap but know one wanted them. So he set up a tapestry shop. But all his tapestrys looked the same, dull, unexciting. No one wanted them. And no one went to his shop. Instead he stood outside telling the busy shop keepers why they were wrong and why his shop was better.

i don't see why they wouldn't be, i doubt the web will take a step backward to make itself more compatible with phones and other devices, those devices will themselves take more steps forward to being more like a common computer

the point being is there is less 'need' for a pc these days.

you have such as xbox for games. this too conects to the web.

i would say a huge amount of people ONLY use facebook. and often via there mobile phone.

think this way. your a 15 year old girl who want to chat to her mates. you see the pc as a nerds toy. but a phone is cool, cheap, and you can carry it around.

most busness people of all ages seem to have an iphone.

think this way, what benafit has a website over a phone app?

before websites we had newsgroups. while these may be still around i bet hardly anyone uses them.

technoloigy has a shelf life.

you see if people buy ipads they are less likly to buy a pc, if the ipad can give them what they want.

a few years ago laptops were the thing you wanted. but now the ipad seems much better than a laptop. its portable for a start while the laptop never realy was. try sitting on a bus with a lattop. while a iphone or ipad you can much easer.

ask yopuself what the average person uses the web for.

i would say conecting to friends (ie facebook app on a phone).

this is why i think such as sex.com is not worth much. i presume they based the price presuming that websites will be more popular as years gop on. i suspect the website is dead.

think of the porn mag. i bet mant thought they would be around for ever. while some are there sales have droped.

things change.

Didn't you guys used to have lords and whatnot that had people run in front of carriages? Nice. England will still have web sites. You guys are the best at keeping outdated shit around, like: Wigs on judges, the french spellings of color and honor, Monarchs, "Pudding", Tyres (wtf?), House of Lords, bog people - it goes on and on.

when people first had cars for safty people had to run in front of the car to worn people.

most countries the judge wear wigs. its just creappy usa that they do not. but then again if you can sign your name they make you one in the usa while in the uk you have to be very qualified.

when the uk is trillian in debt you can start insulting us.

but the truth is most countries were run well when we ran them. soon as they ran themselves it all went wrong.

i have to agree here. Here in NL they air those shows with people who want to buy a new house, and also the UK version. All the buildings look like they could collapse any time, everything is old and made with medieval castle rocks probably held together with mud and almost every interior has the 50's brown/yellow flower motive wallpaper with matching granny sofas.

10 years out from now, who knows for sure but one thing is for sure :
we can't bet the farm that it'll be here in 10 years!

Based on the number of things that have come and gone in my life time I
don't expect any thing/situation to last forever. No way.

My guess would be that websites will still exist but the number of people who use
a computer to access the web will shrink dramatically.
Using a computer is anti-social and people are going to grow tired of this
isolated life style.

Apps will explode in multiple devices however.

Examples :

- your synthesizer will auto access the web to get sound/software upgrades from the
manufacture's website.

- You will use a "Diagnostic Plug" to connect your car to the web to run diagnostic
test on the vehicle to save money on fake repairs.

- Your burger franchise equipment will log on the web to calibrate to company wide
recommendations so that each restaurant is consistently good.

- etc...

In other words : put a computer inside a device and the manufacturer will simply
make up a reason for the device to access the web.

IE : "How many people who bought out product actually turned it on".

Cable connections will probably vanish in 10 years; because it's smart to look
at and expand satellite usage.

website? of course, but they will be vastly different than what we have today.

mobile & tablet based websites will be a must if you want to succeed. content that can easily stream over a 3G/4G network and allow the user to subscribe to a service where they can view videos/pictures on their mobile, iPad, TV and computer will be the "future" of current websites.

I remember years ago when sites would allow you to select your screen resolution size to optimize the browser to fit your screen... now its done automatically but most are pretty much standard sizes.

I know, I have two kids and I pay for two data plans. Once they're out of college, that ends.

And maybe when you're older you'll find that stupid, constantly ringing and beeping phone in your pocket an annoyance and anything but cool.

I've given this a lot of thought really. I watch Star Trek / Next Generation and they sort of just call up the computer to get whatever they need. I think eventually it will boil down to a handful of sites all controlled by the government that will all look the same - shopping, music, email, and something like wikkipedia for information.

I guess only time will tell.

Of course websites will still be around but they will have the ability to fly and be powered my "Mr. Fusion." In 12 years expect that they will be able to time travel to the past so that people can decide that tube sites might not be a great idea. Oh and Zango..

Websites will still be here, unless the Internet becomes defunct.

The big question is will porn paysites still be here?

I seriously doubt it in their present form, the slippery slope you see today isn't showing any signs of slowing down. As more kids become 18 more people become too old to bother with porn or die off. The 18 year olds won't replace the lost buyers. They are brought up to believe porn and the Internet is free.

Mobile phone porn will be viewed for free and paid for by adverts. A mobile phone version of Pornhub.

Porn had a great run for 60-70 years as a big money making industry. Don't expect nothing to change.

Sound apocalyptic? Yes, but looking on the dark side and planning for it is good business. Then you can guard against it all going belly up. Just got to make sure you make as much as possible while the party continues.

Without a doubt but I ask do you think brick and mortar stores will be around in 20? I think warehouses and personal services will rule business then.
