				Skiing or snowboarding in europe
Where are the best places to do this? Looking for a challenging hill and something easy to get to. Not something where I need to take 2 trains, 4 buses and then a sleigh ride to get to the mountain. I heard Switzerland is pretty good but I see online there is a bunch of mountains there, and many people say some are not accessible very easily. Also, Is there an official end of ski season over there? Some sites show it, others do not. I know some places are year round, I just don't know which ;) Help is appreciated! thanks Jordan |

				 | I went skiing in Switzerland when I was a teen. Forget where. Two hours uphill in a train, all day skiing down. Hotels and restaurants on the way down. Utterly fucking amazing. Came back to the states, fifteen minutes in line, ten minutes up hilll, three minutes of skiing. Went down the slope once and said "Wow, this sucks" and never skied again.

				 | Andorra, France, Switzerland - keep in mind that probably half the resorts in Europe don't have snow right now, freaking weird weather we have this winter |

				 | Switzlerand, Austria, France, Andorra. All expensive but all good. To be hoenst you are spoilt for choice in those countries. Interlaken is world famous however does require quite a few trains/chairlifts. I dont ski alot so not your best guide, but I try and go once a year. I would say look for resorts in Andorra. You have the added bonus of duty free there so 20 cigarettes for 1 euro and cheap drink too. Skiing season ends around Easter for most of Europe, but varies from place to place. Some places you may not even get snow anymore even during peak season. |

				 | my station is La Plagne in France - with it's recent cable car connection to Les Arcs is the largest skiable domain in Europe with. Access is excellent - with a direct train from Paris or London. Station closes 25th April I think.

				 | Les Gets, France Was there a few years ago, had a great time. You can board on a glacier if you want, dropped off by a helicopter and all that. I have not been boarding all over Europe, but it's the best area that I have been to. |

huh? you moved away? ---edit edit - hehe, see Location: NC - pffft! Was in Boston for a good few years and damn skiing in vermont sucked queer balls!! Couldn't even have a beer in a bar on the slopes as it was forbidden 'for health and safety'. Pfffft, vin chaud at 10:30am is a must.... --- We always do 2 main weeks in La Plagne (apt there) and then try to squeeze in a couple of weekends in the south during the season (friends apts)

				 | My little guy, only 8, passed his "gold medal" ski level (french grading) this year (he's been in ski school since 4) - I'm so proud of him cos he's much smaller than other kids his age, so we go skiing together in the afternoon after his morning classes finishes and I get a real proud father feeling skiing with him.... He can't ski well off piste, so I always take him there to level things out, but on the giant slalom, he beats me each time - this year, he whipped my ass by 16 seconds!! You can see the buzz he gets from it whipping his "papa's" ass! It's such a shame we don't live nearer the stations for him to train more to perhaps make a career of it cos the French ski team requires full-on training week in week out each season. But hey, he's half British, so maybe he has a chance to slide into the Winter Olympics at some point representing the UK that is always crap! If so, watch out for a UK small dude doing Super G with a sponsorship sticker "I'm only half-borked"

				 | You can ski/board the entire country of Andorra practically. The Pyrenees are amazing this time of year, although they didn't get quite as much snow as last year. It's a 4 hr shuttle from Barcelona or Girona and the shuttle is like 36EUR each way. Stay in La Massana. Best prices on skiing, VAT free shopping, and if you decided to take advantage of their tax haven, hide some money there!
