wow, we're doing EXACTLY THE SAME for a museum in Argentina, hope they don't see this

(when I say EXACTLY I mean the 3D navigation concept, not the resources)

I was surfing it for a good while yesterday, I would gladly do more, but... time, I can't spend a whole day watching art, but I really like this stuff.

I wish they had the super zoom avail on more paintings. Seeing the brush strokes of the masters is, I don't know.. almost like seeing a ghost. Does that make sense? Like you are seeing the footsteps along the path someone took to create something beautiful.

Also, since it is an option for so few works- looks like 1 work per museum, disappointed Moma or Google chose Starry Night for the enhanced detail. It's not intended to be viewed that close and nothing can really be gained from being that up in it. I think they just went with the popular choice.

Still really REALLY cool.

you are mistaken, there are 17 hi-res works in the Moma museum alone

I'm looking at 'still life with three puppies' right now

Each of the galleries has selected one piece of artwork to be photographed in staggeringly high resolution, with each of the 17 images containing around 7 billion pixels. Zoom in close enough, and you can see individual brushstrokes, hairline cracks in the canvas and microscopic details that are almost invisible to the naked eye
I know that they are all high res, but only one piece per location was chosen & offered for view at 7,000 megapixels.

ok, I see what you mean now

the hi-res is pretty good, but the super-hi-res is extreme

The Google art project is interesting. It will become possible to find all art on the Internet.
