Anyone watch that show Treme on HBO?

I tried it a while back and mostly hated it because it's not The Wire.... however going back to it recently I think its actually done quite well so far.. just about half way through the first season now and the next one starts back up in April i think.

I love the music and that it has Lester Freaman and the Bunk in it...

thoughts?

I love The Wire with an intensity that could melt holes in steel, but I couldn't get into Treme. Someday I'll give it another chance, based solely on its pedigree.

I didn't like Generation Kill that much either.

Completely different then The Wire, except one thing, how the relationships between the viewer and characters developed.

You can certainly see the same writer/mind in action behind it when you've watch one (and had loved the other).

I think The Wire was one of the best TV shows ever put on TV, just great storytelling.

I'm totally there with you. I ended up liking the show okay, but it took me a while to warm to it at all because I loved loved loved The Wire. I've spent a lot of time in both Baltimore and New Orleans. I wouldn't have necessarily said I had a major preference, based on experience, and I live in Los Angeles now, but maybe I have more of a Baltimore mindset. I don't know. Mostly, The Wire is just a tough act to follow, even for the folks responsible.

I think thats what i missed the first time checking it out.. I was too upset that it wasn't a cop and gangster driven show.. It's more centered around the music and how they use it to mend everything it seems.. has some real depth so far anyway...

big chief is a bad ass
