I know some people just can't admit it when they bone up. I'm usually the first person to admit when I fuck up, but I am also seeking a solution at that time.

How about you? Can you admit it when you are wrong?

Some people I think need to literally practice it. Like interject something you know is wrong into a conversation. Let people correct you and poke a little fun at you. Then practice saying oh yeah, you're right about that, I had that one wrong. Doh.

Sadly there are companies in this industry that will not allow one error and it sticks in their minds even after years of good service. I attempt to always double check and verify any data etc that I submit to decrease the odds plus have a team of industry friends I run things past to catch any problems I over looked. In the end - if I have made a mistake then I owe up to it since attempting to lie about it then getting caught to me is much worse than admission.

I had a friend that being RIGHT was so important that he would overkill everything you called him out on every time..

Say he was speeding and he hit a person crossing the side walk. He would say 10 KM over the speed limit isn't speeding .T he government allows a 10km grace to deal with different speedometers. The person wasn't in a designated cross walk so HE WAS jay walking and the person breaking the law. Not me..

Be careful about being right though, because others can have a hard time about it
if you being right makes them wrong.

If you are working for a company and there is a problem and you find the
solution, take note of who has tried a solution already and failed or has a
solution that doesn't measure up to yours.
These people can get angry as hell because you did your job.

I've been "fired"(forced to quit) in this situation a couple of times.
I thought I was giving everyone what they wanted, a solution; but all they
really wanted was to be right.

Both times I received a phone call a couple years later with an apology after
people became happy with my solution and accepted that it was what they needed.
A lot of good the apology did me. NOT! But at least I got them.

This is a true story.

Finally, visibly annoyed, Dave looked up and said -- I shit thee not -- "I'll have to check MY sources."

I'm not the smartest person in the world. If I was I would have unlimited funds and a staff of man servants to feed me and clean for me.

My best friend had the balls to tell me the other day that he was a good driver, and the fact that he was rear ended twice in the past two years wasn't his fault. Later that day we went out in his truck; Son of a bitch he tailgates like a motherfucker. I told him this and he told me he wasn't tailgating. I told him my sports car was one third of the weight of his truck and has killer brakes (I have Brembo brakes on my car) and I still keep proper braking distance. Sure enough we were driving at 35 mph, traffic stops suddenly, and he locks up his brakes trying to stop. The car behind us does the same to avoid him. He was wrong, he's been wrong for years, and he can't accept it. Thus, he'll have another accident.

Not that I'm a better driver than him or anyone for that matter.
