JustHost - fucking scam
I got this email recently:
Subj: Your account is going to be suspended soon due to resources overuse This is automatic report. Do not respond to this email. Your account "XXXXXXXX" (domain name XXXXXXXXXXXXX) is found in violating our 10% resource usage policy described in http://www.justhost.com/terms-and-conditions According to our system-logs your daily average usage is as follows: CPU = 5 % RAM = 20 % MySQL = 0 % Just Host offers unlimited hosting space and unlimited bandwidth, but as per our terms we will suspend any website which exceeds our 10% CPU policy. Please visit this link to upgrade to a dedicated server: http://www.justhost.com/godedicated. Sorry for any inconvenience, and we hope you understand our decision. The subject of this email might as well be "We think you are an idiot and will signup for more expensive option after you read this". I'm switching to another host. |

Why anyone bothers with shared hosting, when there are rock solid dedicated around at less per month than most people will spend on a slab of beer, is beyond me.

I'm just starting in adult and don't really need dedicated. All the dedicated plans I could find were significantly more expensive then virtual. If you could direct me to some cheap dedicated hosting provider with unlimited transfer I would really appreciate it.

If you're just 'starting' as you say you really don't need unlimited transfer. Try these for size http://corenetworks.net/dedicated/clearance/ |

The same thing happened to my friend, he had his website with those guys and it was either down or slow, and technical support were a joke.

![]() Any resource is "limited" in some way.
While shared "unlimited" may work for some people, once you start gobbling up resources you will need to go to a VPS or dedicated. Where that line is drawn varies by hosts who offer shared hosting. Typically they will offer the upgrade, not just terminate you. Good luck sire. |

You do NOT need dedicated servers unless you want the control of root access and full control over everything related to the server. What this guy needs is a decent HOST... I've been with colo-cation.com for years and have been very happy with their support and terms. I'm so happy with them as a customer, that every once in awhile I like to spread around some good news, with no kickbacks from them, you'll notice my link is not an affiliate link. Anyways - if anyone who is having a problem with shared servers and getting shit about using too many resources, give colo-cation.com a look. I have never ever been told that i've been using too many resources (when I was with Servage they canned me on day 2 after setting some of my sites up, so i've been there), although my sites are mainly optimized. Have a good one and good luck. ![]() |

Same shit happened to me ca. 10 days ago with JustHost, all websites were down for more than an hour, and when I finally got a chance to IM with a support guy, he just told me that all sites are up and running. 5 minutes after this answer bought new hosting, now am in process of moving 40+ websites...

![]() Why wouldn't you want control ? Why wouldn't you want to know how loaded the server is ? When the monthly outlay of a decent dedicated server is less than a slab of beer there is no reason to have shared hosting. We're not talking about a little family business here with little or no traffic to a business website, we're talking about adult webmasters where traffic is currency and traffic leads to load. What happens in the shared hosting solution when one customer overloads the rest ? Your sites slow down, you're dependent on someone else to fix it. At least you can be in control of this stuff with your own box. Then what if you want a mod to PHP or Apache ? What if you want imagemagick installed ? How about flvtool or MP4box ? If you want flexibility and responsiveness shared hosting wont give you that. |

Agreed. VPS is simply a better alternative for a few bucks more.

Ya I wasn't sure what that meant. We usually call it a case over here.
