California allows college aid to illegal immigrants

WTF? This is just wrong. In a time when more than 48% of all Americans live in a household that received some kind of government benefit during the first three months of last year, we are now going to pay for the education of illegal immigrants?

Even if it's a small number the key word here is ILLEGAL immigrant.

Fucking jobless and homeless AMERICANS on the streets, so let's give free aid to those that don't really even belong here. That makes perfect sense.

Illegal aliens who pay nothing into the tax system, and are not even citizens of this country, getting free handouts on "wants" (i.e. college education) not a 'need'... compliments of the tax payers in a country/state that is going broke.

Fucking madness.

I did hear something interesting not too far back. It was a report that stated that illegals pay into Social Security something like 8-10 billion dollars a tear and can never collect it.

That seems to be a common story told by those who defend the illegals. Saying that they have somehow acquired a person's SSN (deceased, ID theft) and use that to pay into the system. Then cry about how they can never collect it.

Here's a tip. Become a citizen. Problem solved.

I'm trying to wrap my head around this. You mean it to tell me the state of California is willing to give out loans to criminals that might be deported at any moment?

The taxes illegals wouldn't pay are income/Social Security/Federal, etc, anything payroll. But, illegals are either going to take cash jobs (no tax, legals do this too) or use a legals SSN (in which they pay taxes.) The "no taxes paid" argument is shaky at best, though the identity fraud would clearly be an issue.

That said, California is so fucked, it's insane to imagine that this is what they have decided to put their money towards. Maybe prisons will accidentally release murderers again to free up space... oh wait!

Agreed.

My old college roommate works for DHS over in Detroit. He can go on for hours about how fucked the system is, and the pro-illegals immigration policies. Some of that shit is just maddening.

Quite a touchy subject. But they do have to actually graduate from high school and get into college to get that so at least they are going to be english speaking and educated, and not trying to climb on your car hood when you pull into the uhaul station begging for work. lol

You forgot the part about a state that has no money, and tax payer dollars. But you're on the right track in regards to the rest. Isn't America beautiful.

The bottom line is there are now enough legal Mexicans in the US for them to get their way. Mexican households have always had more children than other races over the years. "Change through population numbers" you could call it. Now politicians have to start giving them what they want for any chance at reelection.

This really pisses me off. I had to pay $8,000 out of my own pocket this year for my education. I received not one single dollar in financial aid. I'm by no means wealthy, and that 8k put a nice dent in my savings.

I believe education should be free in every country, at least for undergraduate degrees. Educated people produce and contribute to the economy. Investing in them will bring a return on investment. So, as a legal citizen born in this country that must pay for my education, to see illegal aliens get a free education, absolutely sickens me, infuriates me, and makes me further believe that the republic has failed and needs to be scrapped.

Another example of how the regular working class person gets screwed again. Nothing new. Stop being a chump and instead play along - many Americans have gotten the message and are working the system.

As to why illegals are being coddled, lots of reasons, but it ultimately come down to cheap labor (not just directly, but indirectly too - drives down overall wages) and getting votes - just because one is illegal, doesn't mean they can't try to vote ... and moreover, their children born here, upon reaching age 18, legally can.

Can anyone make a good recommendation, I'm looking for a country I can sneak into without penalty. This country must have excellent health care that I can access for free simply by going to the emergency room. This country must educate and feed my children. And I don't want to pay taxes either.

Please hurry I need to move soon as my country is turning to shit and is about to implode. Thank you.

Did you know that 15% of California students from kindergarten thru 12th grade are illegals? Only makes sense to now fund their college educations right? Fuck me!

Correct.

There have been a number of different documentaries and interviews where corporations, like Nike, have said that U.S. citizens will not work in a shoe factory or will work some of these jobs (like farming, house cleaning, etc.) and that the only way to fill these jobs is with this labor force.

A few years back the DHS was flying around the country busting meat packing companies notorious for hiring illegals. Swift was a major one where they hit a bunch of their plants at the same time and arrested thousands. Well, after that raid the corporations paid off their congressmen and now DHS has to give a 3-7 day notice to the company before the raids. So when they get there, a plant where thousand work will have say 100 people working. All white and legal. Mysteriously they rarely find an illegal any more.

Those they do find are those who get turned in by the company for not keeping their mouth shut or being problematic. Essentially, they are to work under poor conditions for little pay. Or they get threatened to be turned in and deported.

It is a huge racket.

And whoever the next President is, regardless of party ... be Obama, Cain, Perry, etc won't do any better. The power-elite strongly influences who gets to run (Ross Perot found that out the hard way back in 1992), as well as what the President does while in office...

Flashback to when Obama won - before he had even taken office, as President-elect, he attended a Whitehouse meeting with President Bush and McCain, all agreeing on corporate bailouts - very strange until one realizes the power-elite dictates much of the policy not the President - he's a figurehead and little else.

You know what? As funny as that is I'm thinking about learning to fluently speak a foreign language. Instead of worrying about health care costs, pre existing conditions, co-pays, etc, I'll just shake my head and say "no speak engrish" Problem solved.

I just can't understand this law and why this would happen. There are a lot of our own students struggling to make ends meet to go to school. Not to forget the crippling student loans we have to pay when we're well out of college, paying taxes.

Absolute bullshit.

And then the person from Asia or wherever, who actually tries to do things the LEGAL way gets ran through every single hoop and red-tape and run-around,and gets nickeled-and-dimed and gets bad, rude, snotty service at our embassies abroad and immigration officers (usually of Mexican decent ironically enough) if-and-when they DO make it here.

Fucked up Country we live in. Really is.

This new exec order is a slap in the face to every citizen and legal immigrant. We paid thousands and spent years following the rules when my wife came from Japan. We are planning the move back and I am working to meet requirements for Japanese citizenship.

Cali is sliding down faster than a cumshot to a Pattaya whore on Friday night...and it will only slide further when educated peeps are all gone and illegal immigrants have totally drained the system.

Lookout Canada, you have some new amigos headed your way when that happens. LOL.

Better to read and educate than spout off blindly.

AB 131 would allow students that meet the in-state tuition requirements to apply for and receive Cal Grants by California's public colleges and universities. These students would not be eligible to apply or receive any Competitive Cal Grant unless funding remains available after all California resident students have received Competitive awards that they are eligible for.

Sounds good to me. I am a native Californian who now lives in the Deep South. I know American Citizens who did not graduate from high school, and make minimum wage in a factory, and sorry to say this but working the type of job back home you'd expect a Mexican to be working. So you show me a "non documented worker" aka illegal who actually graduated from high school, got accepted into a college, and just needs some help with tuition? In terms of making society better, I think that is a good thing. I myself am the child of an immigrant (let me add legal) and can't stand seeing lazy Americans who were born here when I know so many immigrants who succeed in the human race so much better. And there is my useless fucking opinion.

I have always found it interesting that college (undergraduate) used to be considered a BIG deal and now it seems to just be the "norm". Everyone assumes that going to college (sorry, not trying to put words in your mouth) guarantees something. It actually doesn't guarantee anything except debt for the borrower/student unless of course the tuition is paid for by someone else (get as poor as you can possibly be and the odds on receiving free, debt free money become a little better).

I graduated with 22K in debt in the early 90s. Paid it all off. Went through a bankruptcy and that shit doesn't pass through, so every penny plus interest got repaid. My college degree hasn't helped one iota in what I do now. Am I glad I went? Hell yeah. First person in my extended family to graduate. It was a goal I achieved. Would I recommend it to everyone? Hell no.

From what I know and have experienced, I would choose someone with experience 99.9% of the time over someone with a college degree. In fact, as a business owner, all things being equal except the degree...... I think I would still choose the person with experience as I could employ them at a lower rate than the person with the degree. Just simple economics is all.

College has become BIG BIG BIG business.

Why don't we keep the "FREE" education where it belongs? In public schools? Why don't we ensure that everyone graduates from high school at a better level and not make college (which is really fucking expensive to operate and to attend) the new high school?

A TIN is for people that are legally here. You cannot get any number illegally except a stolen one.

Sounds like a conspiracy theory!!!!!

Of course there are people behind the Presidency. When it comes to money, there's almost always someone bigger that has more interest in what is occurring.

Outstanding, so after all Californians get their loan, we'll hand out loans to criminals who are in the country illegally, break laws on a daily basis, and we'll never see a dime of that money once they get deported to go home to use their degree.

I'm guessing you don't have any kids in grade school or high school and don't see what's going on. The schools here in California have a large percentage of Hispanics - all of whom speak poor English because it's not their native language. These kids aren't stupid, but because they barely speak English they can't pass the classes and are getting held back. This is creating an entire new class of citizens - Hispanics who flunk out of school because they can't speak English well enough.

I have two friends of mine, Jose and Sandra. They are both here illegally, but all three of their children were born in the US. She works cleaning houses, and he takes odd jobs under the table. Their daughter (who oddly enough shares the same birthday as me) was in my daughter's class. After six years of knowing this family, their daughter has failed an entire grade and been held back twice. Great kid, she's not stupid, and she speaks English - but not well enough to learn in it.

Your right, it does not guarantee anything at all. However, it opens up doors that wouldn't be open to someone who didn't go through college. For example, my position as a manager at Playboy required a college degree. Without it, they wouldn't have even considered me.

Also, it helps when your fighting to get a job. When hiring, which candidate are you going to pick? The one who was too lazy or not smart enough to go to college, or the one who got two degrees in four years?

And while I'm ranting about this subject....

I've have two accidents in the past twenty years, both minor. In both cases I was hit and not at fault, and in both cases they were Illegal Aliens (with no insurance).

Years ago a friend of mine a friend of mine went to get married and her marriage license was denied - because she was already married. This was a surprise to her. Turns out someone used her name and info to marry an illegal alien. Imagine that.

I've long since come to terms with the fact that my govt is going to mis-use my money.
That being said, I'd far rather them mis-use it on educating people than on imprisoning, bombing, or shooting people.

Can we stop calling these people immigrants?

They aren't and it's an insult to anyone who actually did legally immigrate to this country.

I could go on and on, probably write a book on this subject. I have had perspectives from multiple angles, being a white female who grew up in an area where I was the minority in Southern Cali, and now live in the deep South where it is half white half black, but all American. Yeah I hear you, and I left Cali for many reasons. It's still awkward for me to be around too many white people at once.

I don't know what to say about your friend's daughter flunking. I grew up with so many kids who didn't have english speaking parents, and they succeeded and many went to college and are now awesome people, some now citizens if they were not. Mexican, Chinese, even Columbian. Sounds like the parents need to contact the school (they don't have bilingual programs?) and make an effort to help their kid more, nothing to do with the parents fault. Maybe they should move to East LA. lol

When I lived in So Cal, all the pizza coupons I got in the mail and local billboards were only in Spanish. Then they had that protest and I was like wtf you guys hate me? and I realized I really needed to move. But there is a solution, and Cali is working on it.

The people who will be receiving this college money aren't going to be the same assholes littering in the street with no papers and treating where they live like it's fucking Tijuana! That's for sure. Class, it rules.

Let me add, you think the Mexican kids in Cali are failling? You should see what the local schools with white and black kids are dealing with down here. It's complete shit. And they were born here and speak english. If your kid's friend gets through school behind a couple years, they'll still have better education than if they grew up in Mexico, or Louisiana public schools.

ps. I was born in East LA. :D
