MSNBC portrays porn pirates as victims

What a bunch of assholes. Writing up propaganda which frames attornies hunting down torrent seeders as "villains"...

Quote:
It's not fun, but all things considered, John Steele is OK with being a villain.

Internet privacy advocates and technology writers call Steele a "copyright troll" and accuse his firm of scouring the Internet to track down computers that download pornographic videos, then forcing Internet service providers to identify the computer owners so it can shame those people into writing settlement checks.

The incentive to settle is to keep from being named forever in court records as a porno fiend, which "seems to me like it's a good way to make an easy buck," said Julie Samuels, a staff attorney for the Electronic Frontier Foundation, nonprofit advocate for what it calls "freedoms in the networked world."

yeah I read that.

Leave comments folks, to counteract the "porn is free" sneers of the consumer class.

the isp's are aware there is a problem and are creating an alert system to warn their customers when content appears pirated. there is a real problem here, regardless of how the public or pirates feel about these sorts of actions.

No problem, just seed all their content without the ads and see how they react.

To clarify, the ISP's are agreeing to this for the mainstream MPAA and RIAA. It's unclear how proactive they will be when it comes to adult entertainment. When all of the MPAA & RIAA discussions were occurring with the major ISP's they declined to include adult entertainment companies although they had the opportunity to do so.

Another way our industry gets bit in the ass by allowing people to have false misconceptions about how truly responsible of an industry we are.
