Technical question...
I have a site on my server and the domain is gone but I want to show someone the design, cms functionality, etc (paysite).
Isnt there a way to have them get to the site via the ip?

If that site has a dedicated ip you can. Otherwise I don't think so.

I can't give the most technically fit answer off the top of my head but you could have your host bind that site's folder to another address like
subdomain.anothersite.com or anothersite.com/somefolder/ |

No. I am pretty sure I had my previous host do something similar to what I am asking but your right, I think the links would be fucked up because its php files and they are probably pointing to the domain.

There are a couple of ways. First try just putting the IP in the browser. That will basically show the first site that was set up on that server. Ready when it works.
They can put the IP in their "hosts" file. Google for details based on the viewers OS. You can point a name within another existing domain there. Such as oldgirlsite.yournewsite.com

heres how
Find out the old IP, and then tell them to paste the following into their host file,
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (space must be a tab) domain.com replace xxx... with the ip and the domain with your domain. your host file is located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts If you are running windows 7, they need to open notepad as adminisrator to edit this file.

It's done at my job all the time on our dedicated windows box. I don't do it, i messaged my coworker he said something like just leave the headers blank in iis. You have to list it as a host header value in iis so that a string of chare (your domain name) corresponds with an ip.
I hope I explained that well enough, if your on a linux box i have no clue lol. Best of luck |

Apache/LINUX
If you are using a virtual IP in a server no ... If you make a subdomain and move the files yes. Dedicated IP is no issue just use the IP. the v-host file might be in etc/apache2/ ... |
