I guess its preseason for officials also. During a tv timeout at STaples Center during LA Kings game, referee comes up to me at the zamboni door to tell me something, I opened the door and hes pointing out some plastic shavings on the ice by the corner. Im telling him its new kickplates and will keep an eye on it .. Keep in mind faceoff is in that end on opposite side. As I am on the ice with door about 3 feet open to talk to him and hes showing me what hes talking about... THEY DROP THE DAM PUCK lol. I said SHIT and the ref quickly turned around and said SHIT also. Now its a brand new zamboni door so it was real hard to close quickly by myself. So plays going on and im scambling to get doot closed. LOL It all happened in a matter of 10 seconds but after was pretty funny. Next break ref skated to me..smiled and said OOPS.

Well for one the linesman should give a quick peek that all other officials are ready for puck drop especially since his line of site had the zamboni door in it and it was open and I was on the ice talking to ref. Harmless situation unless someone decided to shoot the puck hard around the boards towards us.
