Mail clients for mac ?

Can anyone recommend any good ones that will help you keep your mailbox organized

Ideally I'd like something that's very similar to a ticket system where I can basically "close" emails I'm not going to be respond to but may need for future reference.
A standard plugin to my current mail folder could also be an option.
Any good recommendations ? It doesn't have to be free

You could just use Mail. Why not just create a mailbox called closed and then Move to Closed when done with the email ?

I get about 100 mails / day that is NOT spam, I get lots of statements, notices etc and I'm copied in on a lot of mails.

I did start organizing them in folders etc but it's very time consuming so I'm wondering what other options I is out there.

I also considered using a real ticket system before but can't find any that's really good for writing emails in.

I used to use Thunderbird but the built in mail client to Lion is much better.

You could just use Mail. I get the impression you may not have explored all its options.

+1 for Sparrow

It has really pulled way out ahead of Mail in the last few updates ...

Definitely worth the $9.99

Checked out the site and the video. Did not see anything that would warrant spending $9.99.

Did I miss something?

1) Watch Merlin Mann's Inbox Zero video
2) Learn how Rules work in mail.app. It is very powerful. What you are talking about is moving your Ham (email you asked for, but don't need to read) email into a folder. It's painfully easy in Mail.app to do that. If sender = x then move to y if subject = x then move to y

HTH

If you have an iPad, it is almost exactly like the native iPad email client ... it just works, and is very user intuitive.

Gmail.com man!
You can tag, label and create tons of filters, add several accounts, pop/imap, etc...

I started to look more at the options but still think it could use more options. The drag and drop doesn't appear to be working great and the use of "tick boxes" would be nice too

I checked it out, from what I see it does less than the regular mail client.

It's cool but web based, I use gmail with IMAP but I'd rather use an actual mail application

I love the smart mailbox function, I think I overdid it a bit with that
My initial idea was to create the smart mailboxes to easily find everything, I now started to combine it with filters to keep my inbox clear and clean.

I hear ya man. It's constant tweaking to get where you need to be when you receive high volume legit mail too. I finally have mine where it needs to be. For now at least
