Whats a good number of search phrases for a microniche blog?
I want to 'get in' to a micro niche. It's a very rare niche.
I have used three word phrases in all kind of combinations, and the most popular phrase gets around 33.000 searhes on google/month, and that particular phrase is available as a .com. Is 33.000 enough? Enough as in, I want to make at least ten sales a month. Otherwise its just not worth the time. This is how i'm thinking... With a domain containing the exact search phrase, i expect to be somewhere on the first page, if i do my seo as well as i can and update twice a week. - Am i to optimistic if i expect the #1 spot on google, without being a total seo-professor? - With a #1 spot, is it to optimistic if i expect 20.000 to enter my site? - And if 20.000 is realistic, i expect 1/3 to clickthrough and take the tour? If im not way out of line here, and my sponsors doing around 1:500, i should be able to do around 13 sales a month. Im trying to 'figure things out', so please tell me if im way to optimistic! ![]() |

Just to make sure, you'll have to look at the [exact] "phrase" & broad matches.
For example: in thongs gets 2,240,000 searches a month globally on Google. But, only 46 people search for exactly: in thongs Meaning, people are searching for things like girls in thongs, men in thongs, babes in thongs, etc etc. My point is just to make sure the keyword you're thinking about buying as a .com is showing those search #'s for [exact] match. High "phrase matches" in a lot of cases will be sufficient, but like in the above example I gave it would not be. I'd then suggest looking at your competitor's backlinks to see if they've optimized for that spot. If there's a lot of competition it will be difficult. To answer your question about getting 33,000 searches and what that will equate to in actual clicks - I'm #1 for a handful of search terms over 10,000 a month and I get maybe 2,000 clicks. It will depend on if there's anyone advertising on Google Adwords for Search, too. Anyways, good luck. |

Yes, its the EXACT phrase. I have another 15 three words phrases in this niche that i could register. They get from 50 to 2900 searches/month. A total of 21.500 searches. Could i use these 15 domains to SEO my '#1 phrase' site in any way? I was thinking if i make some kind of mini sites, linking to different blog posts on my main site? What do you think? Would this do more harm than good, seo-wise? |

10 sales per month on a 33 000 monthly searches is not going to happen; even if you get to No1, your site will go up and down with time, so assume page one permanently, not top position;
I know everybody is crazy about "niche marketing," but targeting low search volume KWs is good only if you sell big ticket items and you are making decent money per each sale. Say, you are selling "big ass blue tractor" and making $500 or so in commission, then all you need is one sale per month to compensate you for maintaining the site (updating it, building links, etc.) |

the best thing you can do is try.,
you have to build sites pyramid., if you wanna be successfful and dont want to loose traffic., like build one money making site. create few supporting blogs for 1st site., create fe tgps for 1st site., each should be on dedicated ip., add quality content regualrly, some linkbuilding after few weeks., then if any of your site gets ranked you have the visitor on your 1st site via supporting sites., good luck |

It depends on everything from the market you're in, the keyword it is, your sales funnel, etc etc. If you're constantly split testing your join pages and tweaking your funnel you can boost conversions. If you're focusing on a keyphrase that just doesn't convert then it's more pointless. There's high volume keyword phrases that convert like shit, too. I rather have a low volume phrase that converts really well rather than a high volume one that doesn't convert at all. |
