Which billing companies have gateways where the customer only puts their cc info and is not charged? I think some sites call them age verification and it gives the user the ability to look at the site for free for 24 hours then charges the card.

Interesting idea. I used to do this about 10 years ago, using a CC verification script (it would figure out if the credit card number was valid). It used to lead to some amazingly well qualified leads!

i think pretty much all of them can do this. whether or not they allow ALL customers to do it is another issue.

so there is no legit billing company that has something like that? i was thinking they put their card down and make it clear as day after the one day trial you will be charge...

but who set that up? im working on a site and i would like to setup a payment trial like that. so im asking do any billing companies offer something like ex: ccbill, secpay and etc? did i say that clear?

It does not necessarily need to be setup by a billing company. Could be as simple as the site storing the credit card info itself, waiting two days and then charging all those that have not canceled.

that's what i was thinking too. do you think a method like this if not done with deceptive practices is effective in converting traffic better then just a regular "sign up"

That's a big no no unless you follow PCI laws to a T.

Almost any gateway can do this for you. You need to have a bank to process the cards.

Netbilling is a gateway.

For me... mainstream site... it is converting on the factor of 6X by offering 3 day trial to pay. The writing that it will charge after is right on the page... not hidden... not below scroll etc. It is just a better way to make the sale.

Any merchant out there will do this - you're just setting up a recurring membership with the first billing period 2 days for free (basically a free trial) and then it starts into normal billing.

Not sure any merchant will let you "disguise" this as age verification though, that would be against CC regulations.

do most billing companies allow you to have a 0.00 sign up then roll you over to a billing or do you have to start with a trial price? hope that's not a dumb question just want to make sure i have the correct info...

I use quantumgateway for mainstream and they simply are an online software gateway *with merchant help* if I need it.

Meaning... I get all calls to my phone number and all emails to my email to address any customer issues.

It is a lot easier for me to take these calls and explain to somebody that they visited the site and it was a trial to pay unless cancelled. An outside party would likely just refund immediately.

This is what you call... *having your own merchant account*

To answer your question from above... it sounds like you are asking the question based on knowledge of a merchant such as CCBill. 0.00 biller sounds like a pre-determined price point based on software that must put that information in... like CCBill.

If you are asking these questions you likely have knowledge of the main merchant processors around... CCBill, Epoch, Segpay, etc. It is up to them if they approve a 0.00 trial to rebill in 3 days at xx.xx dollars.

*Having your own merchant account* you do not have those types of restrictions.
