Noise Cancelling Headphones .... suggestions?
Need a new pair to travel with. Prefer Bluetooth if no loss on sound quality. Price doesn't matter. I want the best. Suggestions?

 | If noise cancelling is your primary need, take a look at earbuds with interchangeable ear pieces. The largest go in pretty tight. I wear them while using my saws. Obviously sound quality will suffer compared to a bigger set, but they fit in your pocket. |

Get the Bose, unplug the cable - you won't need it. THEN grab a nice set of in ear cans - I have the in ear monitors from Shure and stuff those in your head and hook them up to your iPod or whatever. THEN throw the Bose cans on top of those and turn on the noise cancelling and viola. Silencio.

 | I shopped for a long time and tried many different headphones, In the end I took the Bose Quiet Comfort 15. They are awesome but one thing I didn't know is that they have a small battery in them. I always have my headphones on when I work so the battery lasts me less than a week which sucks but otherwise I love them. They sound great and work perfectly. I tried the BEATS headphones. They sound good compared to the other headphones they put side by side with them but they suck compared to Bose.

 | Before you buy any headphones, I highly recommend you hear a pair of HD-25-II's. You'll see them on every sports broadcast (but with an added microphone). They sound incredible, they're small, they fit very snugly on your head (perfect for running for example) and they're comfortable enough to wear for hours both physically and audio wise. I can't hear much of anything when they're on, but they don't actively cancel outside noise. They're well known for cutting out background noise and being able to wear them for hours, hence their dominant use in broadcasting, DJing and audio engineering. I've owned expensive cans from AKG, Fostex, Sony, and others by Sennheiser, and these are the ones I've been happiest with. You'll never be disappointed in owning a pair of these. If I ever decide to buy a pair of $800 headphones to sit in a chair in a quiet room with the lights off.. I can see the value in that. But for every other situation, these headphones are the shit. http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD2.../dp/B000TDZOXG |

All these people suggesting bose probably buy monster cables too. There's a shitload of better companies for headphones and speakers than bose.

Same thing with Bose, the most berated audio company in history. I haven't heard their headphones so I can't comment on them, but why do I need to hear them when like you say we have companies like Sennheiser, AKG, Fostex etc who specialize in headphones for professionals? It's the difference between a RAW untouched image from a pro DSLR, and a "processed" image from a consumer camera. Maybe they look better at first glance, but the professional intends to do their tweaks intentionally on a case by case basis, not just apply the same processing settings to every image that comes out of the camera. I have a pair of KRK Rokit 8's as my PC speakers, connected with 1/4" balanced TRS to my PC. Last week I added a set of Auralex isolation pads beneath the speakers to get them off my desk, because the desk vibrates and muddies the sound. It adds bass, but bass that isn't supposed to be there.

 | I used to like Sennheiser but... Not true. I really shopped around before buying my Bose headphones. Monstercable on the other hand are either fucking scammers, or The Future Shops / Best Buy's of the world who sell Monster cable are fucking scammers. Don't believe me? Do this. Go to any big electronics store like Best Buy and look for the "Monster Cable Display". They have a rig set up to show you the "Noise" you get from other cables and especially other Power Bars vs. The "clean" power you get from Monster Cable. The display and the sales pitch is made for grandmas and other people who forgot what they learned in elementary school electronics class. You'll wanna punch that salesman in the face.

 | There's a good reason why audiophile websites don't list bose anywhere near the top if they list them at all. Just look at this website that's been around for a long time that test headphones thoroughly... Not all the headphones here are top quality but you won't even find bose here. http://www.headphone.com/headphones/ Bose doesn't even make headphones anywhere near the same class as these or the ones I posted a pic of above... http://www.headphone.com/selection-g...ser-hd-800.php Bose doesn't even list the technical specs on their speakers and headphones last time I checked. So what are they trying to hide? Nobody said you had to like Sennheisers either, there's tons of companies better than bose for headphones. AKG, Grado, Beyerdynamic, Ultrasone, Shure, Audio Technica and plenty more. |
