I-pad/I-phone simulation rendering site, software or android app
I am a stickler for cross browser compatibility and html compliant code, so I use no flash etc and heavy css which has served my clients and me well.
Last year upgraded to an Android phone form Treo which never worked well on most web sites. Checking all my sites with the Android, they all rendered properly. Was told the I-phone worked as well. Imagine my surprise when my new android tablet did not allow some of my CSS/JavaScript photo viewers to work right in the default browser and some pages required margin tweaks not required on the droid cell phone. Tweaked margins to work right and can use Firefox on my droid to view pictures in my CSS/JavaScript photo viewers but have not debugged the photo viewer yet to work in the standard browser. So I don’t have to buy an I-Phone and an I-Pad I really don’t want just to test sites, is there a dependable app, software or web site that anyone here uses to test sites? If need be, I can get a used/refurbished devices to use as testers but hey, a buck saved is a buck earned - right?. |

Checking your designs against an iPhone or iPad is easy, doing so on an Android device is tricker. This is because you have several iterations of Android OS that each change the rules slightly when it comes to the browser rendering content and the wide variety of display resolutions and physical sizes.
From a developer point of view, Android is a clusterfuck when trying to get pixel perfect design in either native or web apps. |
