Is it legal to use the word "teen" or "girl" in porn?

Is it legal to use that word? Specifically in a domain name. I need to know. Thank you.

As long as 2257 is good and it isn't a site meant to depict underage porn..

Ok. In Americas a word is not illigal unless you are trying to be politically correct, but that is just a guilt courtesy. In other words, you have rights but you don't have the right to NOT be offended.

As far as using either in domains, The Truth in Domain Names Act which got folded into the PROTECT Act of 2003 in the US states you can't use misleading terms in domains names to attract children to sites that contain ‘material that is harmful to minors" so as long as you don't use the term girl or teen in a way that suggests a site that is not adult you should be ok. Adding words like porn, sex, etc. to the domain name would help reduce confusion and prevent it from being considered misleading. Here is a link for more info on the specifics:

I list a good chunk of money when the processor made a policy barring "teen" in domain names. I had a barelyeighteen type domain. So not illegal, but it can cause you some trouble every so often.

It really depends on what other prefixes or keywords you are using. Using pret*** or 16y***oldg**** would obviously land you in some hot water.

legal yes, but using certain keywords in domain names will cause you problems if you're using namecheap. For example they refuse to transfer in domains that contain the word 'boy'.

I don't think they are illegal - Immoral yes, but there is a difference.

Now you've done it. Just using those words in this thread has gotten you on a watch list.

To the OP - Most of what you see here relates to webmasters that are in the US or have a business relationship (IE Hosting) with a company in the US.

Your local laws apply of course.

Domain registrars are bound by the registry agreements (the TLD like .com, .net, etc.) that they work under. Some registries have vague restrictions about obscene or offensive names ... Registrars or Registries have the right to accept or decline name registrations on a per case basis.

So, while some national law may restrict your use of a domain name in its jurisdiction; your Registrar's or its Registry agreements may be of greater impact.

Also, advertising networks and search engines may impose their own restrictions of what is considered an obscene, vulgar or offensive name.

If you imply pseudo underage content, e.g.; barelylegalteenvideo.c0m it may not be "illegal" (in violation of some statute) but you will be subject to a lot of scrutiny by a lot of people both businesses and governmental authorities. IMHO, it's not worth the trouble for a little monetary gain.

I understand there are payment processors that don't like the word "teen" unless it's in a clearly legal context. 8teen, legal teen, 18plusteens etc. Not a legal issue, just a billing compliance issue.
