We went Shark Diving (pics inside)

Scuba Steve and I. Lots of fun. Steve has footage on his go pro of a shark bugging out and biting the camera ladies arm (luckily she wears chain mail)

Nothing like it...

Especially when you're the first one headed down on the dive line and the school of sharks is already circling the dive spot.

"Your first dive is a "Free Swim" with the sharks on a magnificent wall. The sharks will follow you throughout the dive because we are close to our feeding site and they know the dinner bell will ring soon. However, no bait is exposed on this dive. This keeps the sharks curious and creates a very natural encounter for divers - just as you would encounter a shark in the wild.

Your second dive is a shark feeding dive. Unlike ordinary dives - you will spend this dive kneeling on the sand bottom. Divers form a semi-circle in front of our professional shark feeder who will place a bait box. Your feeder utilizes this bait box and a pole spear to control the release of food which influences the sharks behavior. While novice shark divers may not notice it - during the shark feeding dives your feeder tries to keep the sharks in a "polite" feeding posture. However be warned - the sharks will come close - very close - but they are more interested in the bait than you!"

That looks awesome! All sitting on the bottom like that reminds me of the Manta Ray dive I did in Hawaii but only with sharks!!!

I want to do that Great White cage dive in the Gulf a few hours south of San Diego.

I love the word "professional shark feeder" This place is one of those companies that offers internships to people all over the world and swaps them out all day long. Our guy was good, but I bet in 2 weeks it will be another guy with 2 weeks training.

I hate to say this, but I think you're going to be disappointed with your gopro video. You're using the normal gopro housing, instead of the new housing made for underwater video, plus its even better if you use a piece of red gel filter like they use for stage lighting.

That bubble-type lens protector + being underwater = blur.

This is video from cayman brac 6 weeks ago, new underwater housing + red filter... and a water spot on the inside of the housing that wasnt noticed until after the dive, which made a blurry spot right in the middle of the damn video

Compare it to your video after you download it. Its a shame that gopro didnt include a good housing for underwater. The good news is that the new one is only $50

i already checked out the video, came out awesome haha. your video is great, the only main difference is the angle of the lens. mine has more fish eye, yours doesn't i tried to pick it up, going to three shops and best buy. none had it in. we decided to go last wed night, and for a fri night flight. wasn't in mood to overnight a dive housing. i've ordered it now but i'm pretty happy with it

Be sure to put a red filter in it. My video has no color correction at all. Thats what the red filter does

They aren't as aggressive as you think.

The attacks you hear of are few and far between, plus it is usually a set of circumstances that led to the attack. They don't go out of their way to attack humans.

Its mostly mistaken identity. Sharks do not hunt humans, we arent on their menu.

Imagine how a turtle looks from below. Now imagine how a surfer looks, arms and legs dangling from the sides of the surfboard, in the surf where water conditions and visibility arent great... surfer suddenly appear to be a turtle. Or a seal. Shark takes a bite, spits it out when the surfers doesnt taste like a turtle or a seal. Of course the surfer bleeds to death, but it was just a taste test.

I've got my shark awareness instructor certification and I've been lucky enough to find sharks on the majority of dives I've been on, even in the kelp beds off of southern california.

What did you see in SoCal? I have been to Catalina a few times and the charter said they haven't seen any whites in there in years, said it used to be unusual if you didn't see one, but I know they show up there from time to time on the way to eating a surfer or two in SD every few years.

I did see a "guitar" shark there which is actually something between a ray and a shark but I think is actually classified as a ray.
