many businesses have call centers in india, so one wonders if they (call centers) will be affected.

dont worry this is not new for them., they are used to this.
they still have daily power cuttings in many areas because low power generation, its called "load shedding" ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_blackout
