Democrats are feeling their oats these days, projecting increasing confidence that Republicans will capitulate on middle class taxes in the end-of-the-year battle over tax and spending cuts, otherwise known as the fiscal cliff. There's House Democratic leader threatening to use a discharge petition to try to force a vote on middle-class tax cuts in the House, and there's tough talk from Democrats, including the White House, on their willingness to let Jan. 1, 2013 come and go without a deal.

Enough is enough. Our tax system is so skewed to benefit the rich it's ridiculous. GO DEMS!

If Obama's plan was so good, how come all polls had Romney leading in the polls on the economy, as in, more people agreed with his plan. More people were simply turned off by Romney over social issues, religion, etc. For every Romney or Buffet out there, there is a small business owner who is going to get hammered by these tax hikes. And there's way more small business owners, then super-rich guys.

Taxes are maybe 10% of the issue. Spending is 90% of the issue. Obama's first proposal: For every $4 in tax hikes, $1 in *unspecificed to be determined later* spending cuts. The amount of $ the tax hikes would raise wouldn't put a dent in the debt crisis, and it's not going to help the economy further along with jobs. In reality, the government will most likely squander it. By the way, part of that 1.6T tax hike raise is $30B for an extra year of unemployment benefits, and an additional $600B in government spending, $50B in the form of another stimulus spending package for 2013 (because his first stimulus package where he tried to pick winners and all the money flowed to contributors worked so well).

So yes, GO DEMS!! This is poor leadership. He should be cutting a deal that includes real compromise and bipartisanship. He should surprise everyone and send a message he is going to be more friendly to business. Then maybe corporate confidence will rise, and jobs will become much better. Instead, its more of the same. And I don't think the Republicans will cave, given the latest offer. Repubs only care about their local elections and places that are Repub are Repub, and when it's all said and done and the facts come out as this plays out, it might be Obama looking like a fool (to anyone with a brain who doesn't accept an entitlement).

Before the election, it was the Republicans unwilling to compromise. Unwilling to even consider additional tax revenues. They looked like the assholes and it was deserving. The day after Obama won, Boehner said tax revenues are on the table, but he wants balanced spending cuts to go with it. It was a perfect time to reset things and come together. Now it's the Dems who are unwilling to compromise, or at least their first offer exemplified that (The deal still isnt done). They are now the assholes. Obama also said between a choice of going over the fiscal cliff and a temporary deal getting done, he prefers the cliff. So who is really driving the car over the cliff? The press is really making it rosy for Obama right now, and he's posturing explicitly to try and blame the Repubs for it, but in reality he will be equally responsible for it if not greater.. You know what else Obama wants, he wants no more fights over the debt ceiling, which means he wants a blank check. When the truth comes out, anyone with a brain who doesn't currently accept an entitlement from the government is going to put the blame on Dems for their unwilling to consider real spending cuts to go along with the tax hikes. I'd say 1$ for $1 is fair. You want 1.6T in new tax hikes, then cut spending 1.6T. Bam -3.2T off the deficit. Everyone wins, everyone loses, shows compromise and fairness. That's true leadership.
