Republicans Crush Boehner?s Plan B

Quote:
Plan B was supposed to have been John Boehner?s masterstroke ? and the only legislative tactic protecting him from an embarrassing defeat in fiscal cliff negotiations with President Obama.

But late Thursday, after a brief but contentious meeting with his conference, he announced he?d gambled and lost.

What "embarrassing" defeat? He's the mother fucking president of the United States.

Seems to me the Republican party has forgotten HE WON THE FUCKING ELECTION.

Either that or Obama has to grow some balls.

This is actually good for the cliff deal to get done quicker. He's lost some serious political face with everything that happened with this Plan B bullshit. Even drafting it in the first place probably looked like joke to some people in his own looney bin. But it was supposed to look like the Republicans were unified with the signing of this. Now they all backed out on him.

Obama has the upper hand even more, but Boehner will continue to act like he runs shit and cover his own ass.

They were on the news talking about how embarrassing this was for Boehner, and his speakership may be at risk.

Enjoy the dog and pony show.
Watch a deal get done and then Boehner get ousted as speaker to provide political cover for the rest of the GOP with their base.
Then the Republicans will say Boehner should have done better, but its not really his fault... What really caused 'the problem' was lack of support in the last election.

It's the only way to rally their base, make concessions and improve their electoral position.

Good, Boehner has to go. Time to get a real conservative in as the speaker. I hope they challenge him on Jan 3rd for the position.

If we do get taken over the cliff by this fucker(and it looks like it'll probably happen), and the economy goes into another tailspin -- the 2014 elections will be even worse than the recent ones.

Fine, then the people get what they want. Right now they got a divided congress. If the majority want something different, then fix it in 2014 and live with what they get.

Until then, its a divided government, and it requires compromise. Once the Senate and President are serious about compromise, make a legit offer, and start the process again.

At the same time, you could very, very easily say the same thing about Rep-majority house.

The republicans have passed two bills on the matter and sent it to the senate, where it has sat. That is up to Senator Reid. But the process by the republicans has been done. Its up to the senate to pass their version, and then go to conference to hash out the two differing bills.

And even still the republicans offered to let the taxes on millionaires rise, but of course was immediately rejected, but not on record by vote in the senate. I'm glad the conservatives put their foot down and stopped negotiating against themselves.

If the senate doesn't want to offer and pass a plan, and would rather let taxes for everyone rise up right now, then so be it. That is the right they have, as provided by the people that voted them in.

And we'll all saddle up for the rodeo in 2014 and see where the people decide to cast their vote, and do it all over again.

So yall are saying since obama won to just roll over? And dems will roll over when the next republican president comes to office? Please..... Checks and balences bitches...

You should have hoped it owuld have passed now it just means that obama must compromise some more or has no chance in hell and the fiscal cliff /sequestration will occur which i think both parties really want to happen since it gives both parties political cover to point fingers...

Obama went to 400,00 on the tax rtaise, and the Republicans took that as a sign to make a ridiculous conservative "wish list" and try to hold the middle class hostage with their Plan B.

The Republican party -- especially the House -- doesn't even think for themselves anymore. The Conservative movement is driving their votes, so the tail is wagging the dog big time. All of the pressure groups (like the one Dick Armey runs) came out with messages on the web yesterday morning telling congress to vote for Plan B. Then they changed their minds later in the day and told them not to vote for it. Then they went home for the holidays before the president could even talk further to them after their debacle. Congress doesn't know whether to shit or go blind. They're a giant fucking mess. Did you see the video of them walking out of the House floor after failing even to vote for their own stupid plan? They look like a bunch idiots and they should make everyone sick. They're not looking out for you or me, and you can believe that.

Medicare and all your other favorite social handouts are going to take a hit no matter what happens. And it does look like your taxes will go up the same as mine. It's too bad anyone has to pay more tax though.

The left are the ones holding the middle class hostage. Tax cuts should be for everyone or no one and spending cuts all around, military, welfare, government employees etc. Real cuts, not cuts in future increases.

You can not tax your way out of this problem. 100% tax on the 1% will not run the government very long.

or maybe THIS is what society's bottom has been led to believe?

While you're cheering for your betters taxes to go up so the government can collect about $70 billion a year, the politicians are busy spending $1.2 trillion a year.
Amazing what the underclass thinks of our problem.

In my opinion we SHOULD "go over the cliff"

The "Cliff" is nothing more than the Budget Control Act Of 2011
And it was passed by both Republicans and Democrats and PRAISED by the President at the time.

We need to get this debt under control. And the ONLY way that the defense budget is going to be cut is if they are forced to do it.

Calling it a "fiscal cliff" is just Washington's way of scaring people so they can just keep on spending money (giving it to the companies that support them)

Exactly. There's nothing "conservative" about launching needless war, or coming between a woman and her doctor, or telling people who they can or can't marry, or what plants we can grow in our own homes, or weakening the separation of church & state. The GOP isn't full of conservatives. It's full of fucking radicals.

that's really odd.. I thought we all paid into those..

That's like saying if I pay for health insurance and they pay for a hospital bill that I am getting a "gift" or some form of "charity" from them.. lol

They aren't supposed to be handouts...but they are in a lot of cases and if Democrats have their way it will be even more so.

For instance...my wife's mother was killed when my wife was just a baby. Her mom was 20 years old.
My wife and both of her brothers then proceeded to receive monthly Social Security checks until they all 3 turned 18.

That was a "handout". And it happens all the time.

And now I have seen Democrats suggesting that
1. Social Security be "means tested". Which means that even though you may have paid in to "your" social security all of your life...if you are rich when you retire, you don't get it. They haven't done this YET. But it's seriously being considered as a way to "save" Social Security.

2. Raising the cutoff point on paying Social Security taxes. So that "rich" people will pay in even MORE money to it. Basically making it plain out welfare.

They'll probably just going to go over the cliff, have everyone's taxes raised automatically and then straight away cut them for everyone under 250k.. It will be hard for the republicans to vote against that tax cut and technically they won't have voted for tax increases and save face... of course then it's hard to extract other concessions with entitlements ..

I'd like to see the Budget Control Act of 2011 (the so-called "Fiscal Cliff") actually work like it's supposed to.

I don't have a problem with my taxes going up if the spending is going to be CUT as well. (not lowering the amount of the INCREASE in spending and calling it a "cut")

We need this to happen to start paying down our national debt.
That's why Congress approved it and President Obama backed it last year.

Now that it's actually gonna happen, and keep them from being able to funnel money back to the companies that their cronies own...they are all in a panic and calling it a "Fiscal Cliff".

This is just a blatant insult to our intelligence.

Did anyone see Daniel Inoyeu's memorial on TV? He was spoken of in the best terms, and you would think he was a pretty special person. When it's John Boehner's turn(hopefully soon), all they'll be able to say is "he was a stubborn prick who could barely control his caucus."

I know. I can see if somebody's Dad had a job and made money and paid into the system and then died and the kid collected for a couple of years like Paul Ryan did to get his father's rightful money. (Paul Ryan was 16 and his dad was a successful lawyer and paid the maximum into the social security system)

But as I said...my wife's family collected for SIXTEEN years on her and her older brother for 13 years and her younger brother for 17 years...all off of her mom who had only worked maybe a year in her short young life.

And THAT is what happens all the time in our society.

Just bringing up Paul Ryan because he's the "boogeyman" doesn't make it right. I don't give a fuck WHO gets money from Social Security in that manner...it's a HANDOUT when they do that.

I'm just pointing out that Social Security was SUPPOSED to be YOUR money given back to you. But it isn't. And if the Dems have their way by making it "means tested" and then getting rid of the ceiling on paying Social Security tax so that rich people just outright pay for poor people...then it will become straight up WELFARE.

There's just no other name for that.

Social Security is an INSURANCE policy that everyone buys from the government. If you buy life insurance, and then die 2 months later, WTF do you think happens? The insurance co doesn't get to say, "too bad, next of kin, he only paid a couple of months, so fuck ya." It's INSURANCE. NOT welfare.

Oh okay! I didn't realize I was buying insurance.

It's not "insurance" GrantMercury. It was supposed to be YOU paying for YOUR retirement so as not to be a burden on society.

Also if you really want to compare it to "life insurance" then you need to understand this:
"First, if you do purchase a life insurance policy and die within two years, most policies call for the company to simply return the premium you paid. That means if you are very ill and don?t expect to live a long time, this might be just a waste of energy. Also, the death benefits are very low and the premiums are expensive."

Also realize it is the biggest expenditure of our govt.

So let's just call it "Welfare" and stop pretending we are paying for our Social Security and just lump it on in with the rest of our taxes and call it what it really is: The govt. redistributing YOUR money to other people without you having the ability to say "no".
