Amazon Glacier for Content Storage?

Any opinions?
Better ideas?
Im looking for a low price storage option for the content that Ive purchased.
Rather than haul a bunch of HDDs around I would prefer to upload them to a place where they could be occasionally accessed.

I checked Dropbox, but its $500 a year for 500 GB, and regular Amazon S3 is even more expensive.

box.com $15 / month for 1TB or Crashplan "unlimited" might be cheaper options for you.

You could always get a box at Secured with a 2 drive raid setup for a low price and still get good service. They are legit, owned by CCBill.

Thanks for the tip -
Crashplan wont let me see pricing details from a non US IP address... Ill check it out with a VPN later.
and Box.com says $15 per month for 1 Tb per user, but their join page sets the user minimum a 3... :-) so really its $45 a month.

The problem with these systems it that once you choose a provider and upload your content its such a pain to switch that theyve really got you by the balls. Im hoping that I get a good one on the first try.

If you have a old spare box you could set up your own syncing cloud storage server accessible from anywhere.

I can see these services becoming a haven for pirates with such low prices to store 1TB worth of data.

- Amazon S3 - not dirtcheap but best possible quality service - http://amazon.com/s3/
- Cheap Dedicated Box with just FTP and 3TB drive - or couple of them - you can find them really cheap at hetzner-online.de or at leaswebs.com

also looks VERY good I must say!
could go well along with those cheap boxes in case you need web access to files too... (instead of just ftp)

That is true about being locked in, and they can always up the price on you too. You really might be better off using a dedicated server with the hard drive size you need.

I have a pogoplug hooks up to your router and then you can plug in a few drives. I stream music from my phone when I'm driving. 2 TB drive $99. pogoplug $30.
