Windows 8 Wi-Fi problem
A couple days ago I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and my internet download speed over Wi-Fi dropped from 50-65 mbps to 1.5 mbps, the upload speed is fine.
I searched all around the net and tried tons of fixes and nothing helped, what I did: - Updated the drivers for my Wi-Fi card - Bought a new Wi-Fi adapter in case the problem is with the Wi-Fi card - Flushed DNS etc. - Tried disabling firewall, anti-virus program? - W8 seems to reserve 20% of the internet connection for itself and I tried changing those settings, didn?t help - Changed Encryption type for the connection to TKIP and that got me up to around 15 mbps Tried a couple more things without results, when I plugin the cable the speed is fine. Any ideas?

yes. the flaw is you described windows 7 to windows 8 as an "upgrade" & as you can see, its not. I suggest upgrading back to win 7.

If it's reserving a portion of your bandwidth, perhaps it's a QOS type of issue?? I guess? I don't know what I'm talking about, but I had that problem once.
Maybe grab TCP Optimizer from here, run as admin and see if it can help http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php Since you already tried different cards and versions of drivers that's all I can think of. PS: http://www.reginout.com/Is-your-Wind...oing-Slow.html |

I never do the upgrade option from major Windows versions -- always a clean install. Maybe that's your problem?
I've had 0 problems on Windows8 from a clean install. In fact, it runs fantastic on everything I've installed it on, including a low-spec netbook. And for the haters: I don't use the metro interface, it's not mandatory. $5 Start8 from Stardock -- boots to regular desktop with normal start menu.

Wrong. Being unable to adapt is stupid.
