I agree. Maybe the kid was a punk. Maybe he would have grown up to be a criminal. Maybe he wouldn't have. None of that deserves death.

For me this case is simple. We all know how it started. Zimmerman sees Martin, thinks he looks suspicious and calls the cops. Martin starts to leave and Zimmerman follows. When the 911 dispatch person tells him they don't need him to do that it sounds like he stops following him and agrees to meet the police at a specific location.

After he hangs up he ends up in a confrontation with Martin. It looks like he was getting his ass kicked, got scared and shot him.

The big question is: How did the conflict start? If Zimmerman decided to follow him after all and pressed the conflict, he is likely going to go to jail. You can't plead self defense when you start the fight and then start getting your ass kicked in the fight. If there is evidence that Martin reappeared and attacked Zimmerman then Zimmerman has a solid case of self defense. It doesn't appear that is what happened. Had Zimmerman gotten back into his car like he said he was going to do none of this would have happened. He is now going to have explain to the jury how he got from where he was when the 911 call ended to being in a fight with Martin.

I have a feeling, especially with this new evidence they are bringing up, Zimmerman is going to say he followed him and that Martin attacked him for no reason. The question is whether or not the jury will believe him.

I do photography at lots of sporting events and I know there are some 16-18 year olds that can kick my ASS. Some bad ass MMA fighters that have been training since age 8. Then just some strong as OX kids.

Who started it is the key.

If Zimmerman pursued Martin, got in his face and was aggressive with him and started the fight you could argue that Martin was just defending himself.

However, if Martin was the one that started the fight it could go the other way.

There might be witnesses and/or physical evidence that can set this straight and clearly tell the jury who did what. However, if that doesn't exist it will strictly be up to Zimmerman and his story. He may or may not take the stand, but he and his lawyers will have explain to the jury how he went from telling the dispatcher that he was going to go meet the police to shooting Martin.

The reason, I think, they are bringing up this stuff about Martin and his tweets/texts is that Zimmerman has an actual history of violence and trouble with the police. You know the prosecution will bring that up so he likely wants to try to prove that Martin was no angel.

In the end I think Zimmerman will lose this case. The situation was completely avoidable. Baring some unforeseen event (like he him hanging up with the 911 operator then Martin bursting out form a hiding place and attacking Zimmerman) Zimmerman chose to put himself in this situation then he chose to use deadly force. That likely will be hard to explain.

Let me give you two scenarios. I'm curious who you think is in the wrong or right in these. Both scenarios take place after Zimmerman has hung the up with the 911 dispatcher and is supposedly on his way to meet the police.

When he tries to pull free Zimmerman physically restrains him. Martin sees that Zimmerman is carrying a gun. He decides to act. He pushes Zimmerman off of him and tries to flee, but Zimmerman grabs him again so he swing on Zimmerman and a fight breaks out.

Now Zimmerman did have a history of being violent. So I highly doubt he was just following and all of a sudden this kid who had no history of violence just attacked him. Being a pot head doesnt make you violent.

That is the point I have been making. As far as I know there are no witnesses and there is no evidence that shows how the fight started and who was the aggressor. There could be info that just hasn't been released to the public, but I doubt that.

This means it will all come down to the narrative that Zimmerman puts forward and if the jury believes him. Like you say we may never know exactly what happened, but Zimmerman's freedom will depend on what he can convince the the jury of.

The entire issue with this case was how the original prosecutor and police passed on their chance to investigate and possibly bring a case. That lead to the community freaking out. If they'd done their jobs properly in a shooting death case, none of this would be known to anyone and nobody would care.

I'm not saying the kid was an innocent church going kid with great grades, but Zimmerman was following the kid. The kid might have thought he was about to come under attack. Zimmerman caused the entire incident, period.
