worst part was that cringe-inducing speech by the president just before they all went out to do the counter-attack bizzo, followed very closely by the hideously posh british accent used when they get the morse code to let everyone know about the counter-attack. Both scenes I have to physically look away and hit mute

One of my favourite films though, and watch it at least once a year

...I also genuinely laugh each time when Will Smith punches the crashed alien and says "welcome to earth!" - my wife used to be amazed that always did (and every time said wtf how can you still laugh at that part you've seen it like 100 times), and (I) still get that weird excitement when you know a good/funny part is coming up
