Panama City Beach? Or Panama City, Panama?

Panama City Beach is pretty affordable. My sister lives down there and we regurally rent a house across the street from her in a nice neighborhood which is blocks from the beach for $700 a month.

As far a Panama City Panama never been but would love to soon. My barber retired and moved down there. He told me he bought a 2 br condo plus a maids quarters with ocean view for $80k and pays the full-time live in maid $500 a month and she buys all the food.

If you get a place just outside the city they are affordable and nice. Safe yes to a major extent but a fair sized dog would not be a bad idea. City offers everything you need including an ass ton of english speakers.

I'm moving my family to Panama at the beginning of the year. I go there all the time.

Low crime,
good healthcare for much cheaper than the US,
great private schools for much cheaper than the US,
All types of restaurants, because of the large populations of Asians, French, Indians, etc, etc... So you aren't stuck with one kind of food.
Lots of business opportunities,
Plenty of people speak english, large number of US and European expats,

etc.....

Contact me, I will be happy to talk about it.

It's hot as fuck but safe and nice, after being in San Jose, CR for years every time I go to Panama City I love it a little more, was just there last weekend. There is a lot going on and always something to do besides Sundays it seems.

My wife works for COPA the major Panama airline, so I can fly anywhere they do for ridiculously cheap, something like $60 return. Only caveat is that I have to fly through Panama. Didn't work out for Las Vegas last month for example, I just bought a ticket, because the connection was the next day.

But yeah Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, all of SA for $60, pretty sweet deal. I just wish they had ONE fricking flight to Europe so I could get over there!

Panama is awesome Lykos. Great clubs, good foods etc. I remember it being quite expensive tho for nice places in that main bay area, also for the nightlife.

Lots of hotties too http://elcuara.com/rumbas.html

I've spent a total of about two years living in Panama City. Some people love it, some people hate it.

As long as you don't expect it to be "like home but cheaper", you should be able to adjust pretty easily.

You have a growing middle class, as well as an exploding population of US and EU expats that are all wanting services that are not currently available there. There are a lot of conveniences that we are used to that no one has yet thought of there, both for consumers, as well as for offshore companies that are moving there.

Also there is not only the flow of goods through the current canal, but the new canal is almost finished, and that is going to bring a ton of new possibilities.

Obviously these kinds of things take capital, but in some ways it is offset by the lower costs, taxes, fees and regulatory craziness that you face in the US.

Actually, I'm also looking at either David, or Boquete instead of Panama city. They are both about 30 minutes by light plane, or 5.5 hours by car to Panama city. David is on the Pacific coast, with marinas, (which is good for me, since I'm a boater), or Boquete, which is about 30 minutes from David up in the mountains, and has a small town aspect, with big houses on huge lots, and a big expat community. The big thing for us is schools, all of which are private, but we want schools where they teach all in English, (since this is the international language of business). Obviously my son will learn Spanish in any case. We have already picked out several schools in Panama city, and now I"m doing research and I'm going to be visiting schools in David and Boquete.

As someone who has been to Panama a bunch of times and lives in Costa Rica, there is no comparison. Costa Rica is only fun if it's a playground, to try and do any business or anything is a complete joke. Panama welcomes you with open arms if you want to conduct business there, it's way easier to get residency and nearly everything is cheaper. Not to mention safety. However you can't let the skyline in Panama City fool you. It's still very much a third world city.

The big thing for us is schools, all of which are private, but we want schools where they teach all in English, (since this is the international language of business). Obviously my son will learn Spanish in any case. We have already picked out several schools in Panama city, and now I"m doing research and I'm going to be visiting schools in David and Boquete.
