If so, was it any good?

Its not something that is available usually where I live, but the next town over, every barber seems to have a 'Wet Shave Wednesday' offer going on...

I'll be over on Wednesday anyway, as I have an appointment with someone, but I'm thinking of popping down afterwards, and giving it a go...

I'm 44, and have realised I've never had one ! So... Worth it or not?

I am Turkish and I heard the "Turkish wet shave" for the first time. Shame on me, I guess.

It can be a thing for the tourists, because there is no such thing as "turkish wet shave" here.

Back in the day that was just called a barber shop shave. I used to get them in NY in the late 80's before the board of health changed the law against using straight razors because of HIV.
I used to go to Roma Barbers in Baldwin Place NY. The guys that worked there looked like they were part of the FBI witness protection program.lol
Jerry Vale playing in the background, you could smoke cigar and it took about an hour no rush. And your face came out smooth as a baby's ass.

so the powers that be in the USA have never heard of disinfectant, here in the UK barbers soak their razors & scissors in a sterilizing solution after every use.

Worth it for sure ! It's awesome. I went once. They wash the face, put the hot towel on face to soften the skin for better work with the razor. I asked to put my beard /that time/ in shape and they even worked around the forehead and backend beards with the razor too - in order to get rid of imperfections and to achieve symmetry - then they used alum, and several other stuff /including powder and aftershave.

It's very cool procedure, it takes over 15 mins / especially if the barber is a talkative.
Probably that's how the women feel after they visit hairdresser, but this is more manly and you feel cool afterwards. The result -

You cannot achieve cleaner and softer and maybe better shave by yourself, you feel everything with your face and it's awesome as result. Go ahead - and try it.

But anyway, I have had a few turkish shaves whilst in Turkey and I love them. The only bit I am not keen on in when they set fire to your face and you can smell burning.
Come out with a face as smooth as a babies bum though.

Wish all barbers offered it.

I always called it a barbershop shave too and honestly to this day I still shave with a straight razor usually. Once you learn to do it it is the closest shave you can get and its only a tad more time consuming than a mach 3

I can shave with a straight razor in about 90 seconds
