Hustlers days as a magazine are numbered, publisher Larry Flynt tells "CBS Sunday Morning" this week
"I don't think Hustler will exist another two or three years from now," Flynt tells Erin Moriarty.
So Flynt plans to take the adult material online in a virtual version he plans to start in a month. Circulation has fallen to 100,000 a month down from a peak of three million, Flynt says. But Flynt isn't shedding any tears about ending the magazine, saying that too many other businesses hang on too long to products. "I treat Hustler the same way as I would if it was a jar of peanut butter or a can of green beans," Flynt says. "You know, it's a product and when you're not making money, you got to move on." These days, he concentrates on his California card casino and plans to buy a casino in Arizona. "Had I known that casinos would be as lucrative as they were, I would have gotten into them long before I did," he tells CBS. "It's been very profitable." "CBS Sunday Morning" airs at 9 a.m. on WKMG-Channel 6. |
