I originally had a long outraged commentary on this but I think I'm going to forgo that and just ask WHY if the people at the top saw these trends over the last three or four years why did they not do anything about it or even come on here and speak out about all the piracy?

I'm not singling out Kink, it's everyone at the top. But I made a lot of money with kink up until about 2010 or 2011 when things just suddenly stopped for my affiliate conversions. I looked around and I happened to notice that their content was all over the tubes and at the same time there seemed to be a different feel about how they started dealing with affiliates. As if they felt they no longer needed us. Strange. that was about the time business took a dive for them. Hmmm?

Anyway is there anyone at the top of porn who is willing to admit that THEY fucked up and they should have done more to stop the piracy? Just curious.

piracy isn't the problem. free porn is. you can remove all the piracy from the net but you'd still never have to pay for porn. And imagining that the top has any control over the bottom is fucking stupid

Good point about free vs pirate. But the top was the driving force behind the conversion to free. Manwin. Brazzers. Enough said.

Free started off pirate. And then what happened was the content owners like Kink started to give it all for free to the pirates right around the time when the pirates started giving the keynote address.

I'm just wondering if anyone at the top is willing to go on record and declare that both they and the industry as a whole fucked up.

what is one compelling reason to pay for porn?

Netflix offers a massive library of content for $7.99 a month. Amazon too will let you watch Science Channel, HGTV, A&E and a myriad of other content for $80 a year AND give you free second day shipping.

Yet a single porn site can charge $24.95-$40 a month. And then there are the scammy cross sells peddled, the shit member areas etc etc etc. Why would a surfer pay $40 a month for 1 kind of porn when tomorrow they want to get off on something else?

My personal observation is from the gay side, but I literally cannot think of anyone who downloads torrents. It was all the rage, but for the last 3 years it's become passe almost. And I talk to a lot of people. They've all stopped. I can long into some of their torrent accounts and most haven't been active in a year or more.

I see a lot of links to Cam4 amateurs. Tumblr links which are either pro photography of hot guys, and if it's porn nearly all of it is home made stuff. Tube links as well are pretty much all amateur home produced stuff. Many of these guys posting photos and videos have quite a following too.

Another thing I've noticed is that in the last 3 or so years when porn has come up as a subject virtually everyone has told me they're bored of produced porn because "it's all the same".

So the free porn floating around the net isn't the only reason, at least not anymore

Honestly, it doesn't matter if everyone stood up and took blame at the same time. We would still be where we are right now.

Best is to just figure out how to profit and grow in the current climate and keep moving forward. Looking backwards is going to hurt you eventually.

People still pay for porn. Clearly, not as much as they used to, but they still buy and there is plenty of money to still be made.
