Social Media promotions
Hi what does everyone thinking promoting affiliates on Social Media?
I'm looking to set up a Twitter account and Instagram. Now I know Instagram is very strict, does that mean they will ban you if you link to an adult using short url like goo.gl to and adult site in the bio? I know they won't allow anything sexual Twitter I've seen it's more relaxed posting even naked photos/videos. Anyone done this kind of marketing and found successful? Thanks |

Will people see your website? If yes, you can make money.
I think the level of success depends on how well your site sells. It also depends on how well you sell yourself and interact with followers. |

You see, I am trying a new way where there is no site, 100% on social, relying on people clicking links from Twitter or my bio.

I have spent thousands and got no conversions, I would only use it for branding not for sales.

That's not gonna fly. Your followers will pick up on that and unfollow you very quickly. You need to give them something good, in order for them to keep following you. Affiliate links don't fall into that category.

I do a lot on SM, via twitter...
I have three large accounts (53,000 total followers), and do pretty well via marketing my sites, video on demand sites, some affiliate programs, etc...

Thanks.
So it seems the opinions are quite divided, some say it will work, some won't. I guess it helps to have a proper website attached to your social profile, but then once they arrive at that site they will would still have to click the affiliated links. |

I don't convert at all any time I test affiliate links. I do get great traffic to my ad-supported tube sites. Twitter is also the best way to stay connected as a performer - as you noticed, Instagram is too strict, and since Facebook switched to a pay model to appear in a user's main feed, it's become useless. Check out TweetAdder to manage your tweets.
There are also Grey Hat methods of using social media, depending on what you're selling. Lots of guys use Adam4Adam and other gay dating sites to attract customers for their cam shows, for example. Get creative. But don't be a dick.

I am trying to be very creative with my Twitter account, this isn't the many many accounts you see managed by bots (or by human) and constantly posting link after link, that method will not work I know it. So what I am doing is creating a fan base first with many followers by posting normal day to day shit, some teasing photos, some non porn photos, so it shows I am very human and real. and every so often a link to an affiliate. I heard cam shows affiliate links never convert on Twitter though? I am using Instagram as a tool to get awareness and drive traffic to my Twitter account by putting the link in my bio and that is all it does. What if I buy a domain and have it redirected to an affiliate link, does that make any positive impact? |

Everything is possible. Its a simple matter of execution and strategy. Can you create a porn page on facebook with hardcore pics? No, obviously not. Can you get creative, understand the boundaries and find other ways to build pages which target those same customers and then market to them? Of course. I have always found opportunity where others are saying "that doesn't work anymore" because I know that means "oh good, the throngs of lazy assholes have moved on now in search of the next easy thing, creating opportunity for anyone who is really interested in putting forth and effort". If you are capable of building up massive followers on social media platforms,... then why care about marketing porn to them? Market what you can sell to them. Market whatever is giving you the highest returns.

Actually, my opinion is that laziness is a plus, as long as you have some brains to back it up with. There are no lengths to which a lazy-ass won't go, in order to work as little as possible. Once you got the formula down it's just a matter of rinse and repeat. And even scale it up, if you have the knowledge and resources to do that.

SEO is no different. Updates don't mean its over. But regardless, you have no shortage of people constantly claiming "that doesn't work anymore" when its absolutely NEVER the case. Do adjustments need to be made from time to time? Absolutely. But those lazy people don't formulate a new game plan and adjust, they just announce its over.

Being lazy doesn't necessarily mean giving up though. As mentioned above, if you have some brains to back it up with, you'll usually do fine. Smart people adapt, no matter how lazy. Dumb people give up, no matter how hard-working.

Actually sharing your twitter account and/or contact information on message boards you're trying to get help/advice from wouldn't hurt. ;-)

I would use a domain to organise redirect links and/or get search traffic. If I wanted search engine traffic I would use landing pages for the offers. If not I would redirect mysite.com/something to my affiliate offer. You can make changes easily that way instead of using bit.ly.

I've recently run some adult entertainment oriented ads on facebook that were approved and had pretty high facebook conversions (for actions) for our Seksi, Inc crowdfunding campaign...
It would be interesting to help someone with a real budget try to do something similar based on this experience |
