They are a waste unless you get a coupon or credit from search.xxx. Believe it or not I had a good amount of sales and traffic from that.

I agree, all these new extensions were created for a reason, and it just a matter of time before we figure out the reason.

adult websites = adult extensions

I doubt companies like Pussycash are going to drop 5 million dollars for no reason on .xxx domains

domains and traditional websites are in their twilight. these new extensions are just a symptom of that. all traffic and eyeballs have moved to social media and apps.

traditional websites look like geocities pages now. if people want to sell something they just have a fb page or yt video and link to an online marketplace where their product or service is.

the reason is money. some people think that these tlds will be given seo favor or something but i don't see it happening. jfk knows people who think this or something similar but just because ruseful is buying .xxx and other big companies and all think something is going to happen, doesn't mean its going to.

perhaps, but that's a lot of money to just go on a hunch, and a couple of my .xxx are already out ranking my .com for the same terms in Google.

Just think a minute though if you did pick up a decent .xxx, and then market is forced to change, can you imagine the demand for these domains would be.

Pricier gamble though...

(500) .coms $8.47x500=$4235.00/Year
(500) .xxx $70.17x500=$35,085/Year

I am not talking about matching your whole domain adult portfolio with both .com and .xxx, but picking up 1 word or killer 2 word keyword search .xxx domains.

A little guy like me has 10k invested in in just a couple .xxx domains, and I backed out of a another deal to buy a 3 letter one for 7k, this will be another case were people who already have money...will just make more money in the long run.

There were buyers of .mobi who got suckered into paying record breaking six-figure prices for .mobi domains. Where are the deep pocketed buyers for .mobi now? You can't give that shit away. What happened to the grand plans for gay.xxx? After a $500k winning bid and 3+ years, it's still "Coming Soon".

This new wave of TLDs is going to have the same result, but on a much larger scale with more people getting burned and losing their investment money. It's going to end as well as the Dutch tulip mania bubble from the 1600s. Charles Mackay's Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds is essential reading for any investor. Get it at Amazon and read it before you become the next victim.

banishing porn to certain tlds has been a US idea. i've never heard icann discuss anything about it.

as or outranking .com'. sure, its all possible but i content and visitor experience will trump the importance of any domain 9 times out of 10.

I bought small amounts of some of the above, like .TV At the time this was a new thing, a few alternatives to .com. Hence the "Tulip " mania. Now it's different, you have a lot more selection, you can make a more leisurely decision about what to acquire, but not if you want to be in on the ground level.

I still think some of the new TLD's are worth investing in, for long term. Not all will be successful, you have to play the percentages , as with anything else.

You mentioned Gay.xxx, there is only 1 name like that, they are grandfathered into the upcoming new extensions like.sex .adult .porn. Obviously they are not hurting for money if they parked it. Perhaps in a few years, the 500K they spent on it, will seem like a gift.

If you don't pull the trigger , you will never know.

True, but that same website might be more memorable with a one word domain of one of the newer extensions like .xxx since great one word .com's were history to obtain back in 1998. Now you might be able to find a good 2 or 3 word .com.

for example I have Date .fish, if you were to market this as something unique it would be more memorable than, Meetgirlsonlinetoday.com

Let's keep in mind that anyone who buys a premium .xxx also gets .porn, .sex and .adult at the registration fee, so $40k spent on a premium .xxx is really $10k per domain.

As for the high reg fee, it really aggravated me at first, then I came to the conclusion that it keeps the squatters at bay and leaves good names up for grabs. Speculating at $80 - $100 per year and soon per extension changes things. At close to $400/year holding costs you better be sure you can get good money for it. Leaving good names for those who plan to develop them.

I'm not in favor of any of the new TLDs. They all look like terrible investments, both from development and resale standpoints.

The price equilibrium is in the process of changing dramatically due to shifts in supply & demand. As more and more new TLDs become available, the market will essentially approach an unlimited supply of 3rd tier domains. (.com is 1st tier and .net, .org and ccTLDs are 2nd tier.) It's only a matter of time until valuations for these 3rd tier domains collapse.

Failure of these new TLDs is much more likely than success. Invest your $$$ as you wish, but to me, buying into these new TLDs is like burning stacks of cash.

Or perhaps they just don't see enough ROI to justify the additional development and marketing expenses.

you can get .porn, .adult and eventually .sex at reg fee BUT they only give you 40 days or so to claim it once these tlds are released.

Fair enough, anyone who spends $XX,XXX+ on a domain should have their business in order and be on the ball to register the other extensions.

.xxx works pretty well, you get free a free ad on xxx.xxx and google even treats it pretty nice. Just wait and .com will be banned from using adult content, google claims not to be evil... I started my website on .xxx and it works, got pretty good google searches etc. A lot of people search <<pornstar>> xxx etc, which could be good value.. Oh and of course, if the name was available on .com I would have used that one.. but he, can't have it all
