Tricked out my Fixie. I call it the Trixie : before/after pics + artist's photochop.

I banged up my rear rim riding a couple weeks ago so decided to make some changes overall.

The bike started off as a Critical fixie urban road bike, seen here.



As per usual, I get good and loaded and do a professional photochop rendering of what I have in my brain, seen here.



so i got busy and removed the rear wheel, put a heinmann wheel on the rear and converted the brakes to coaster, getting rid of the cluttery rear brake. CHanged the bars out to classic french bicycle touring style handle bars with cork tape. and slammed on some fresh tires all around, 100PSI !!1

I use this bike for cruising, grocery grabbing and HIIT

for me, the appeal is simple functionality. this bike has everything i need and nothing i don't need. The new setup actually does have a brake though, it's built in to the rear hub and stops me just fine, I can skid the bike with it. The previous rear brake with the lever and cable and assembly, not to mention the colored cable was all too much for me. The fixed speed is also just perfect for where and how i ride. for cruising, i can peddle up a decent incline without having to stand on the pedals and i can max out doing my HIIT program as well. So i figured why clutter a bike up with a bunch of gears and cables and levers and junk if I don't need it?
super light weight in total too, i can easily carry this bike up stairs and in the sand and such.

Im gonna be that guy, but its not a fixie if its got a coaster brake. I agree with you the simplicity of single speeds and fixies. I ride a fixie but typically will have a front brake for safety. Riding in busy cities on a fixie without brakes is insanity.

so if you ride with brakes then you ride a single speed, not a fixie.

that's pretty close to how I banged up my rear wheel. i bunny hopped a curb and accidently peddled backwards a teeny bit in mid air (which started reversing the wheel) and the rear wheel hit the curb. I went flying too!

Thanx, going to hide the wires, get those SOA mirrors with the turn lights in them and have it all powder coated metallic blue. The tubing is square 1 1/4 so I have a lot of space.

on my computer now so i can post easier,

so i was thinking when i replied earlier you had your wheel in single-speed setup with a front brake. but it sounds like you have ithe cog fixed. i don't ride on city street really so i had yanked the brake off a while back, i also liked to peddle down in my HIIT.

have luck with those fucking mirrors!

I had some on the last dyna and they were the gremlin in the entire handlebar mod, you can see here, everything is hidden, wires AND reservoirs, so very technical but the fucking wires on those mirrors were like hairs, super thin and the insulation kept wearing through, which meant i'd have to completely dissassemble the bar setup to make the repairs.

That's a good looking bike, I'm going to be working on mine in a couple months. I'm getting married in July and I want everything paid for long before that date. Meeting with someone tomorrow that's going to make Irish Car Bomb Cup Cakes. Guinness in the main mix Irish Whisky in the center mix and Bailey's Irish creme frosting. can't wait to try one of these.
Anyways, not sure how far I will go on hiding things, I will hide the wires for sure. I found a guy that will make a seat for me, fake alligator in blue with a black trim.

'fixie' is the ultimate hipster drivel. If you ride a bike without brakes in normal traffic you will be dead within a day. Who the fuck willingly rides a bike or any other form of transportation that doesn't have brakes?

I can see it now. Hipster rides overpriced 'fixie' along cyclists that do have brakes. Intersection lights turn red at last moment. Others brake and wait, while hipster shaves off soles from hipster shoes. But hipster is too close to incoming traffic, so fase 2 of braking comes in effect: Throwing yourself off your bike, shave off skin on asphalt, come to a stop, pick up fixie and nonchalantly stand next to it while your hip tetanus scabs are already forming on knees and elbows.

My youth was spent working in my step dad's machine shop, when I found this square tube, the wheels started turning, because it has hammer marks on the edges. I'm almost done with the grinding, then I have to slip a grinder inside the tube to knock out any burrs that will cut wires. I'm really looking forward to finishing them. Not much I can do with steel when I have the tools

i mentioned the brake system on this bike a couple times already, the coaster brake is strong enough to skid the tire, did you miss all that or you just need to rant about a bicycle?

right on, i'm a big fan of powdercoat, as you can tell, the entire motor was powder coated as well, pushrod tubes, everything. oh, i misspoke earlier. the wheels are hdwheels, they're one of a kind. the guy is up the road from you, chatsworth.

you going to polish them up or leave hammer marks and keep it dirty? I kinda like the idea of keeping it dirty but both would work.

The Square tube steel is called Hammered, it comes that way. When I finish the bars, I'm going to just powder coat them to match the bike.

They are cut with a 16 inch rise, with the extension already on the bike, that will leave the handles just above shoulder height for me. When I finish these, I'm going to make a jog so I can make more if people see them and ask.
