Ive lived in a metropolis 23 years and a smaller town for 13. Smaller town is the best for me, but i'd live in a big city rather than the countryside.

Of course you even manage to bring it to the next level, for example when you pretend to be surprised that there are places where you could not buy icecream 24/7 :
Seriously, it really sucks if you can't buy ice cream 24/7. I mean, there should be at least gas station or mcdrive if there is no ice cream store.

Our house is opposite a river, we get few cars in the street. I can walk the dog, by the river, then over the fields and not see anyone. Unless I go with the other dog walkers.

Living in a shed, in a field of cabbages, has it's upside. LOL

I'm not pretend, because I have a supermarket at the 1st floor of my apartment house. The only thing you can't buy there after 11pm is alcohol. Everything else, including the ice-cream of course is available 24/7.

P.S. The population of Moscow is about 15 millions (non-residents are also counted because they are live here)
Uhm NYC is on extremely small island so is densely populated. I'm sure there are plenty of cities will much more never ending urban sprawl

Like Los Angeles is 10,000 sq km

Some may consider where I live as the city, but I would classify it as a suburb. I'd like to die here.

other pluses:
- you can sell or buy anything pretty fast since there's enough people to buy or sell pretty much anything
- you can dine or hang out in so many places just in a walking distance
- you don't have to solve any sort of transport most of the time since you can just walk around
- you get to meet interesting and various people of all sorts
- no matter what time it is you can still get pretty much all you need
- good life all around

yes I could never live in a country, I did so for a couple of months and then one day I emigrated all of a sudden back to the city because it was absolutely unbearable

Very impressive. Is this the main shower/toilet for Moscow? One-fifth of Russian city apartments have no hot water, one-tenth no plumbing or heating ? RT News

I see it's RT, but sounds like a bullshit. You will die in -30C w/o hot water and central heating system. According to that news 1/5 of Russians have died of cold during the latest winter Otherwise they are using natural gas heaters to make hot water.

As about the image above. It's a half-frozen river in the park. What's wrong with it?

P.S. The US trailer trash lives in trailers (I doubt they have central heating systems in there ), Russian trash lives in those old and ugly "apartments". Here you have to work to afford something better. The USSR has gone and you can't get an apartments/home from the evil Soviet government just for free as it as before 1991. Now you have to buy it.

Tomorrow we are going to the Apricot Fest. An open air market where all the locals come to sell their crops of Apricots.

A few weeks ago, we had the Ladies Fest. Lots of girls dancing in traditional costumes.

The river opposite the house, sorry shed.

Yep, 12,310 km2 is a rather huge area. On the other hand, the Moscow metropolitan area is 45,900 km2 which is 9x times larger than LA County

Who gives a fuck about the amount of land when talking about a metropolitan area? Anyone could rezone a city to appear massive that way. It's the population density that actually matters. Also, let's say that the area does matter, Oblast (region) and county are completely different.

It's about 20 millions of citizens. Officially. Unofficially much more because there are many uncounted immigrants mostly from Asia, Caucasus, Ukraine, Belorussia, Moldova etc. As I said already, Moscow is #1 city in the world by the amount of immigrants.

Because no one wants to live elsewhere in Russia? Just a guess

Because Russia is a very large and rather cold place and there is a lack of infrastructure outside the big cities. So our population lives in a very compact way (you can see it on the night light map). 1/3 of the country is located above the Arctic Circle. Also keep in mind that Russia is the biggest country in the world while our population is more than 2x times less than in the States. Australia would be a good example for the comparison. They all live in just a few cities and a whole their continent is almost unpopulated (look at the map again). Almost the same applies to Canada and Alaska.
