Should Tiger Woods just take what's left of his career out back of the woodshed and shoot it?
Should he?
+48 over his last 12 majors (including this 1st round of the 2015 US Open) Closest finish: 4 back. Outside of top 20: 7 times (including this US Open where he is currently so far down the list he's not even ON the Bleacher report stats, lol) Bob Weeks from ScoreGolf blogs this today: Once again, he sprayed his balls all over Chambers Bay, compiling a score of 80, the worst in his long U.S. Open career. It left him in 152nd position, the first time in his professional career that he?d been outside the top 150 spots after the first round.I love that... "Into the deep fescue" :D Haven't seen that word used in quite some time. Anyway, with multiple bogeys, flying clubs, almost comical bunker hits, he's making this current US Open, or at least the TSN highlights if you're like me and can't stand watching golf, a fun but often painful thing to watch. When even a mere hightlight-watcher like me finds himself facepalming the guy who was once touted as "the Gretzky of Golf" you know it's time. Or is it? You tell me. At Tiger's age Nicklaus was still winning championships. He still has fans, many of whom still think he will launch a comeback from hell. Many others on Twitter are saying he should just pack it in though.

He lost his balls that day he felt forced to have that awkward press conference where he apologized. Fuck how much do you think he wishes he could just go back in time and tell everyone to fuck off and mind his their own business. He is a fucking golfer not the President so let him play golf and he wants to bang skanks let him bang skanks.

Pretty obvious to me... he needs to go back to banging all kinds of nasty women and he'll get his mojo back.

Bottom line :
If you soar as high as Tiger Woods did in sports then you can bet your ass that it won't last. But that is probably what keeps the big bucks in sports; nobody can stay on top forever because the competition is too good.

No way. Tiger has 1-2 majors left in him. He isn't showing that form right now but it will come, he is far from finished in Golf. Golf needs a bad Tiger Woods as much as a good Tiger Woods, attendances are terrible when he is not at events.
I can't wait for the day Tiger pulls off a major and shocks everyone, it's coming sooner than a lot of people think. He needs to get his head straight and maybe fuck pornstars again, he was untouchable when he was banging tons of chicks, guy needs to not give a fuck about what others think and do what makes him happy. |

I used to say he would be back absolutely, but after watching him top a ball on hole 18 yesterday I really have doubts. The guy is a mess mentally, which is the real baffling part since that was his main attribute when he was dominating everyone.

Crazy how your mental focus can ruin your game.
I'd hang it up but it looks like he's trying to pull out of it.

He's never been the same since his wife took a 5 iron to him and the shit storm that followed - and he's not changed a bit since then, Lindsey Vonn dumped him when she found out he's still cheating, tigers don't change their stripes. He loves low class dirty sluts. His upbringing was fucked up, his father was also a cheater and filled his head with a lot of shit a kid's head shouldn't be filled with, even a child prodigy.
I thought he'd get it back together but I really doubt it now. Golf more and more is becoming a young man's game, look at the age of the guys winning majors now. Tiger is turning 40, he's had a lot of injuries. I also think Tiger put on too much muscle, he hit the ball a mile when he was a lean young machine. Golf is the most mental of games, it was his biggest edge over other golfers and now his mind is a mess. Pussy has brought down many great men. As far as being the 'Gretzky of golf', he already was that and always will be, he doesn't need to win another major to go down in history as the greatest golfer ever, he was that for over a decade. I think back to when Tiger was at his peak and everybody said he'd destroy Jack Nicklaus' record for majors won. It seemed impossible for him not to, short of illness, injury or death. And when Nicklaus was asked about all that he cautioned that golf becomes much harder as outside influences impose on an athlete, getting married, having children, managing your business empire - at the time Tiger was still a single guy. People dismissed Nicklaus' words as small and tinged with jealousy and bitterness. They may have been but he was also right, when Tiger's personal life imploded, so did his golf game. He's not a very likeable guy but I'd love to see him get his shit together and come back and win majors again. I really don't think it will happen now.

Very good analysis. He is still a big draw at events though so I'm sure he will continue to do so as long as he is still invited.

I think his massive problem is his over tinkering his swing. I have read a lot about how Tiger has been known to be an over perfection artist.
Im not on the pro level by any means but anyone who plays alot of golf knows you can't walk up to the ball and have 50 swing thoughts. You need to simplify and just go up and hit the ball. He has tried to change his swing down to every finite detail and now he is left with a swing that just isn't natural. He should of never parted ways with Butch Harmon, he should fire his current swing coach and he should be going back to basics. Not over complicating everything down to such minute levels. Golf at the end of the day is the same few shots repeated and you just have to feel natural out there. |

All too true, and his peers dont worry about him anymore. The topped a ball on hole 18 on thursday. I mean, jesus christ do you know how messed up your swing thoughts are when that happens? The guy is beyond a mess and proably should just step away and look at himself long and hand if he really ants to win majors again. I dont have the answers, and neither does he apparently. |

He hasn't won a major since 2008, and his form has gotten steadily worse. He had enormous control over golf, and he could get away with anything.
He will never return to form. If Jordan Spieth wins the US Open, the conversation will be whether he's better than Rory, and that's where golf is now. |

I see TSN cut him a break last night and didn't focus any attention on him at all. The edition of sportscenter I watched was all about that Aussie's terrific day in spite of him suffering from acute vertigo and nausea.
No mention of Tiger at all. Mercifully no doubt. That one guy's shot onto the green for eagle was amazing though. Where he missed by a mile but then the sloping of the far side of the green did the work. Could be the shot of the tournament right there.

Well that's the US Open done. I saw after I made my last post that Tiger quite simply didn't make the cut for round 2. No Tiger = no media mention about him.
The thing about that is, he didn't just "not win the US Open by just a few strokes" (like a former champion of his former calibre should have)... he fell completely and utterly FLAT like a guy who just barely qualified for the tournament might have. Can he really come back from the hole he's in? That course ate him alive. It frustrated a lot of other guys but they seemed to be able to get it done regardless. As for Spieth, all I have to say is just imagine the senior year he would have had at college next year. :D

His early career swing was a huge source of his success and decline. Nobody had such extension and power combined. This is fine when you're young, strong and flexible. He's now had a series of injuries (back, wrist ...), likely due to his monster swing and age. He can no longer swing the same. He's been tinkering with his swing for some time, but cannot capture the former magic. This has lead to mental playing issues as well. He will never be the same, but can he reinvent himself and still compete? Time will tell ... but it's fast running out.

Tiger should go back and bang as many dirty sluts as possible, and see if he can regain his mojo. It can't hurt his image or endorsement opportunities as most of them have already abandoned him. So it's not like it matters what the public thinks of him anymore. His "game" was at its best when he was banging hookers, pornstars, and random sluts all over the place while he was racking up wins so we know he can multi task. Lol
Seriously though I have a far darker conspiracy theory though, it appears that someone voodoo'd his ass. He could win championships with relative ease, his putting game was amazing but all of a sudden his game is gone. Injury or not, certain things like a putting you don't lose overnight. From the best on the planet to one who is absolutely mediocre? Never underestimate what a woman scorned will resort to doing or a woman who sympathizes with what his wife gone through. There are many many man angry women out there who would love to make a man like Tiger who epitomizes male infidelity at its finest teach him a very painful lesson ![]() |

Always go out on top. If not you just look like an ass.
Tiger has made millions. It's time for him to retire, and do what retired athletes do - I have no idea what that is. Become a golf show host, or make some kind of golf related product that is badly needed. I don't watch golf AT ALL because it's about as exciting as watching paint dry, but I did see a clip on the news of him trying to hit a ball out of a grassy area that just looked sad.

U-S Open ratings disappoint: Well there it is, the final tally. Fans = ratings. Ratings = $$. And $$ is always the bottom line. Thanks everyone for your input on a good discussion. Personally for myself, although I'm not all that much into golf, I do watch the highlights but that's usually about it, but I wouldn't really like to hear that Tiger is packing it in just yet. I think the reason that he still continues to draw so much interest is twofold; some watch just to see if he's going to crash and burn once again. But I think so many more continue to tune in when he's playing because no matter how bad he's been doing there's always a chance he will return to some semblance of his old form and start kicking ass in a tournament again. In other words he's always dangerous. It's just that as it happens he looked about as dangerous as a rank amateur in this last major, but it's also a fact that in every major people tune in to see how Tiger fucking Woods is doing, and then they look at how all the other guys are doing. Tournaments where Tiger is playing draw far larger audiences than those where he isn't there. And when he misses a major event that would normally have a huge audience that audience is smaller. It's possible that those who say he should just pack it in already are correct, but personally I think that would be a shame. I'd like to see the guy make a comeback, and send his career out on a high. Plus it would be really really cool to have all his critics shut up for once. I won't hold my breath for it to happen but it'd be great if it did.

It isn't tiger woods - golf is a sport (if it can be called a sport) that people mostly watch because they play. golf player numbers and golf revenue are way down. middle class has less disposable income and golf takes a few hundreds bucks.

More trouble for Tiger at The Open Championship ---
In fact he bogeyed 4 out of the first 9 of the tournament. One player who did not seize upon the calmness of the early hours was Tiger Woods, who had vowed that he was on the verge of a breakthrough. But he looked remarkably similar to the shell of himself who competed at Chambers Bay, where he shot an 80 and a 76 in the first two rounds. ![]() Was watching the highlights of the 1st round this morning and found myself wanting to walk up to him and bitchslap him one.

The "thwack upside the head" approach used to work on our old black&white TV when I was a kid, might actually help Woods get out of the weeds, who knows?
