I have a relatively useless blog network that gets about 50k/month SE traffic. It's been up for a year, all on relatively good domains. I paid a few people to do a bunch of blog posting, all relatively well written. Over a year's time it's made next to nothing. 80$ on crakcash, few sales on paperstreetcash, 3 sales (which seems to be the only good program) and shooting blanks on CCBill sites and anywhere else, literally 5,000-10,000 clicks on some programs with no sales. Stopped with adding new posts a while back..

This blog network is just a project, it's not important to me and I'm not reliant on the sales, didn't think I would do very well with it but didn't realize it would do this bad either.

Then there's the obvious problem of trying to hire someone to monetize it properly, if they really knew how to monetize blog networks they'd probably only be working on their own instead of offering services to monetize yours.

Still open to suggestions though, I'd like these sites to eventually be productive because I'll be opening up a webcam studio as well and want to do some sort of cross promotion.

The horrible conversions I'm seeing is making me think to forget about promotion completely and concentrate solely on running the webcam studio

If you really could take a look you might be surprised how many sales are generated by that traffic. I am NOT saying your being shaved. But a lot of people will still type in a domain rather than click a link.

It sounds like you are suffering from a niche focus issue. Buckle down on one niche, pound it to the ground. Once it's getting some action, use it as leverage to feed in your next related niche. Rinse and repeat.

Teen, WebCam, those are not niches. Those are general markets. Try "Latina teens on WebCams" as an example of what a more niched approach would be.

I did the same thing with a very niche WebCam blog set up. Pretty happy with the payoff on work spent.

Yeah that's not surprising and a lot of programs make it difficult to link directly to the respective content on their paysite. So a surfer can't even tell what they're getting when they sign up and might have better luck typing in the domain (or even part of the domain and have it brought up on google) instead of clicking the affiliate link

I'm still basing this off of actual clicks counted by programs though, and 0 sales.

I'm still basing this off of actual clicks counted by programs though, and 0 sales.

I could tell you how to get around that problem, if type ins are killing sales, but I'm not saying publicly.. col.mike7 at.\/yahoo

You should be able to make reasonable sales on those figures, it makes me wonder how niche centric you are. It's easier to catch fish in a small pond than in a gigantic ocean if you have no idea where the fish are.

I wonder how targeted your traffic is, you can throw thousands of visits a day at a blog and none of it sticks because the visitors aren't especially interested in what you have.

I also wonder about the visitor experience to the blogs. There are a lot of really crap blogs out there and while perfection is the enemy of success, some blogs are just vomit to look at and navigate.

You also need to consider mobile, which can account for up to half your traffic.

Of your 50k visitors a month, how many are returning visitors ? This would be a good indication of what's going wrong.

People mean different things by link cloaking.

Do you mean a local redirect like yourblog.com/sponsorsitename

or do you mean really cloaking where people appear to never leave your site ?

If you do that you should use something like a 307 redirect and nofollow on both the link and the redirect.

However this will not prevent type ins bypassing your affiliate links. But it will supposedly make your site look better to the big G.

Edit: it's also a lot easier to manage when pulling links and looks cleaner.

50K a month SE traffic from what geo-locations?

If the traffic is from countries that are known buyers: that ''should'' build up to 200+ transactions a month conservatively (maybe might take a few years). SE referral traffic from so called tier 1 countries like that should generate $800 - $2,500 a month realistically.

Want to sell the network and all of its content exclusively-- let me know

Well at least I've got a bit more motivation to see what I can still do with this, while the webcam studio is getting setup

I went back and looked at analytics and realized of that 50k/month it isn't all SE traffic after all, only about 25-30k/month of SE traffic and it's all more or less tier 1 countries. The other traffic is from hardlinks I purchased a while back.

Part of the problem with my setup is I bought domain names not too expensive but ones that I liked the keywords for since a few years ago you could almost always rank pretty easily for your website if it was an exact match to your domain, after many google updates doesn't seem to be as easy

About three or four years ago. Honestly, I haven't been putting in much effort into it during those three years.
