Trump, the gift that keeps on giving

"When you talk about George Bush, I mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time," Trump said in an interview with Bloomberg TV.

"How pathetic for @realdonaldtrump to criticize the president for 9/11. We were attacked & my brother kept us safe." Jeb Bush tweeted.

"No @JebBush, you're pathetic for saying nothing happened during your brother's term when the World Trade Center was attacked and came down," Trump fired back.

It was attacked under Clinton also but did not come down !

Who is the blame for that?

You can not be protected from everything... Even if you give-up all of your civil liberties and privacy you are just as vulnerable. Just by things you have not thought of. And only certain problems are brought to your attention as to have a reason for taking more of them.

I will not feel any safer no matter who is in office !

But I will say that I am more afraid to speak my mind in public or online now.

Who do we blame for that ?

I blame all of you who never speak up until it touches you.

so you blame everyone else because you don't speak up then also blame everyone else for not speaking up.

and it's common parlance amongst presidents to claim "that didn't happen on my watch", the point being it happened (and is the fault of) the president whose watch it did happen under.

At least Bush got Bin Laden by sending thousands of troops into Iraq and Afghanistan...

oh wait. That was Obama, using intelligence and a military scalpel instead of a sledgehammer.

I think it's pretty obvious that Bush was more interested in war and all the money that flows in from it.

I think Bill Clinton and the Republican Congress that tried to impeach him for lying over a blow job are really to blame.

Clinton was too preoccupied with that impeachment attempt to pay serious attention to national security that was threatened by the rising tide of al-Qaeda. GW Bush was just the dummy in office at the time of the attack. What happened after 9/11 is GW Bush's and Dick Cheney's fault. They really fucked things up and things are still fucked up.

They had a mandate to eliminate bin Ladin and al-Qaeda they did neither. They eliminated Saddam and created a mess that we are dealing with today.

Jeb Bush is not electable so there is no real point in pondering the matter. His name might as well be Mud.

---

We will see if the Trumpster is a flash in the pan. In the bowl of nuts that the Republican Party is offering up -- the Trump nut may just have the best chance to lose the general election -- he most likely will as there is no substance to his ramblings. I am betting on a dark horse Democrat nominee -- someone not currently in the running. But in a contest of Hillary C. and Donald T. who knows what might happen. Buy REITs and Health Insurer stocks long -- 1 will be a winner to offset the other's losses

While I agree with you that the entire Monica / impeachment thing was nothing more than a horrible distraction, I don't think it's fair to say the President was distracted by anyone one item. At any given time every President is constantly distracted by one issue after the other.

I think it's unfair to say Clinton or Bush caused or allowed 9/11 to happen is unfair. Clinton had a chance to take out Bin Laden (if I remember correctly) but his decision was based on the knowledge we had then, not now.

I don't think you can just turn-off a criminal trial where you are the prosecuted -- even if it is a political game.
bin Ladin and al-Qaeda should have been eliminated or rendered powerless by Clinton (assuming he wanted this result). Could the Military and the CIA have acted alone without presidential approval toward actions to terminate them with prejudice? I don't think that the final order would work that way ? Not sure.

I recall not much of US policy being enacted during Clinton's impeachment proceedings.

I would like to place blame somewhere because 9/11 occurred in the first year of GW Bush's presidency before he got a handle on things whether we agree on his policy decisions or not. I think shit-for-brains Bush was just a dumb-shit oblivious to the threat while Clinton was well aware of it but didn't act -- why?

Blame the right people the first time and stop making scape-goats for political gain.

I was not blaming Clinton. Just making a comparison.

How safe are you now from a terrorist... now that so many lives have been lost in wars that will never end, only grow?
How safe are you now from speaking your mind in your new glass house?

Political opinion is created by those that know how and have the power to do so.

Remember that Glass-Steagle was repealed while most of you were paying attention to Monica Lewinsky. And that the Patriot Act was "UN-AMERICAN to speak against at the time it was enacted.

It seems public opinion has changed on both but the laws have not.
Make anyone feel better to blame one man and not the system that makes that possible?
