I take it that no one bothered to read the article. Here's some highlights:
Canada will make an additional five-year, $2.65 billion contribution to help developing countries tackle climate change. It's for an international climate fund seeking to raise $100 Billion by 2020. The "Canada is back" line is a reference to the last priminister of Canada, Steven Harper, who was a climate change denier, and a conservative who loved him too much oil. The funds are to help the "poorest and most vulnerable countries in the world adapt,” Trudeau said in a statement. Canada has now exceeded the $4 billion target that environmental groups have been urging it to meet as its “fair share,” based on the country’s national wealth. The United Nations Children’s Fund said the contribution helps establish Canada as a global leader in helping vulnerable children in poor countries affected by climate change. The US pledged $3Billion at this time last year: U.S. Pledges $3 Billion To Developing Countries In The Global Fight Against Climate Change | ThinkProgress Japan is giving 10.6 Billion : Japan to give developing nations Y1.3 tril in climate change aid ? i read the article.
and i find it hilarious that Trudeau thinks that Canada getting back on track to stop global warming means giving billions to 3rd world countries. still waiting for trudeau to mention what, you know, Canada will actually do itself to curb global warming. besides the fact your economy is in a downward spiral. it's not like Canada is a shiny beacon of green living. |

Canada's emissions will be 66% to 107% higher than what's actually required to do its share in meeting the 2C global warming target a new Environment Canada report revealed.

canada was being run by a jesus freak cabal who thought an economy built around oil and prisons was good economic and environmental stewardship.

If he wanted to stop climate change he would outlaw shale oil collection.... He is spending 2B while pulling 100s of B from the worlds dirtiest oil source. That's like banging a hooker in the ass with a fistful of gold bars and then tossing her a dime so she can go buy herself something nice....

ON March 25th 2011, Harper was found to be in contempt of Canadian parliament. (First time in history btw) In Spring of 2011, a federal court found that Harper's Conservatives violated the $18.3 million election spending limit, during the campaign which originally brought them to power in 2006. In 1993, the Conservatives chalked up a $38 Billion deficit. By 2006 this had been turned around into a $16 Billion surplus. Four years9 later, and Harper's returned Canada to a record $56 Billion deficit. Harper wanted US-Style banking deregulation, but when the 2008 crisis hit, he took credit for saving Canada's banks. How Harper Gov't Pushed Financial Deregulation Here, Abroad | The Tyee He was against universal health care. Private insurance system 'workable solution' for Canada's rising health care costs, Harper said as NCC head | hilltimes.com He shut down Parliament, twice. Once for several months to block an inquiry into Afghan detainees and to stall government bills, and a second time to avoid a vote of non-confidence which he was expected to lose. (Did he learn this from Ted Cruz? Or teach it to him?) Harper has weakened regulations so that more pesticide residues can be left on your fruits and vegetables. The plan is to bring Canadian regulations in line with U.S. Levels, which can be up to 100 times higher. Under additional new regulations, corporate food producers will be allowed to conduct their own safety inspections. In 2008, when Luc Pomerleau, a biologist at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency with a flawless 20 year record with the agency, leaked these plans, he was immediately fired. Since then, the listeriosis meat outbreak killed 17 Canadians. - Fuck you, Harper. Canada raising limits on pesticide residues In 2008, Linda Keen, President of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, reported that the aging Chalk River nuclear facility was at a risk 1000 times greater than the international average. Harper quickly fired her. Chalk River risk was 1,000 times normal | Toronto Star In the 2011 budget, the Harper government failed to allocate any new funding for drinking water on First Nations reserves. 100 First Nations communities currently have water advisories, including 49 communities which are high risk. He also refuses to sign the UN declaration designating clean water as a human right. Maybe he's in bed with Nestle? First Nations drinking water and the federal election | rabble.ca In 2007, Harper cut $1.2 Billion from the establishment of national childcare, but failed to keep his promise of cutting the $1.4 billion in tax breaks he gives to oil companies, which continue to see record profits. Here's my personal favourite : Protecting the interests of large oil companies, Harper has fought global efforts to deal with climate change. In 2009, he cut science research funding by $138 Million, and imposed limitations on scientists at Environment Canada, requiring that they obtain permission to do interviews, and often screened their responses. The result is that Canadian media coverage of climate change science has been reduced by 80%. His efforts here have been so destructive, that in 2009 prominent politicians and scientists called for Canada to be removed from the Commonwealth. The last time this mark of shame was used, it was against South Africa while it was still under racist apartheid rule. http://www.theguardian.com/environme...climate-change I hope now Eon you see our point of view.

I replaced every lightbulb in my house with these bad boys: GE LED BR30 Indoor Floodlight Bulb (2 pk.) - Energy Star Certified - - Amazon.com
You could buy 250 million of these suckers for $2.5B. So here's what you do. You break out the big bad calculator and you figure out how many regular lightbulbs you can replace in the country. Then you figure out how much energy those mean little pricks suck. Then you replace all of those pricks with these nice guys and you have your lightbulb energy use down to 15-20% of what it originally was! Now that's impact! "First World" countries can't "take care" of "Third World" countries until we take care of ourselves. Call it insensitive, mean, whatever you want, but when the top 20 energy sucking countries in the world are all major powers, there is absolutely no reason to be worrying about some sub-Saharan country that is barely a blip on the energy map. Focus on the big targets for a real, actual impact. Anyone that TRULY appreciates the environment should be pissed off about these half measures and push for changes that actually make a difference. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ty_consumption I see no "Third World" countries. Change a lightbulb.

my mind is made up that actions should precede throwing money.
look, i get it, we're all (developed nations) are supposed to chip-n cash to pay for green infrastructure in the 3rd world. we won't reach the goal if that doesn't happen is the logic, sure, fine. but as you point out, Canada's action on curbing global warming has been abysmal/non-existent, including reneging on the kyoto protocol. But instead of trudeau announcing that Canada is back and here's what we're doing to curb OUR emissions, he announces you're just gonna give billions to some other countries and hope they curb THEIR emissions, adding to that hypocrisy, trudeau is giving out huge dollars all while your economy is in seriously rough shape, with the future looking very sketchy. it's just like the very first thing he did upon entering the office was call BO and renege on Canada's commitment to eradicating isis. it all seems very.........libtard. |

Nope. I could trot out a longer rap sheet of shit for the Liberals that ruled for 13 long, dark and horrifying years before Harper came to power. Never before or since has then been a more corrupt government at the federal level. Not to be outdone by their federal masters the current Liberal government of Ontario is running their own corruption racket and driving the province into the ground.
But none of that will make you see "our" point of view. So why would I bother? The fact is your pet cause is banning the life giving trace gas CO2 so that's all you care about. If Harper had somehow abolished CO2 completely you would have loved him despite all of that other stuff you posted. Just like you love the Liberals for their "green" policies despite all of their corruption and mismanagement. And just because CO2 is your number one issue doesn't mean it is for everybody else. In fact: Climate change a low priority for most Canadians: Ipsos poll And despite your long list of grievances against Harper and all of the libtards moaning and groaning about how horrible and terrifying he was there is this: Canada's reputation takes top spot in international survey That was dated July 2015 - after 9 years of Harper supposedly destroying the country and ruining its reputation globally according to libtards. So when the world already sees us as the best country in the world, even under evil Harper, what exactly does Trudeau mean when he says "Canada is back"? . |
