I would like to try a Catholic church. I don't know what to do at a Catholic church. Never been to a black church either. I wonder if there are churches like the one in Blues Brothers. I would like to go to one like that.

You should go to a gospel brunch at a soul food restaurant. Good fun.

I don't go now, but several years ago we used to go off and visit churches that were historic and attend services just to do it. Several times it would be in Spanish or Latin, but we git the gist.

Good points. I have done some stuff at the local Rescue Mission, Which is also has a Church.

There is also a Church down the street that has a line of people out the door every Wednesday that gives away food.

I probably should just go to those and see what I can do. Although, The Gospel Brunch sounds like more fun.

i'm not a politically correct person

that said, it's silly to believe that you have a personal relationship with the creator of the universe and superstitious adults should be publicly shamed until they are no longer retards

additionally, adults who believe in ghosts, really anything supernatural or that "everything happens for a reason" are fucking insane dumb people

Shame and peer pressure are a powerful force, But not as powerful as the Holy Spirit.

Just saying, if Robert Oppenheimer hadn't spent so much time in a lab, Maybe we wouldn't have an Atomic Bomb.

so you would have had the atomic bomb designer doctor robert oppenheimer and his squad of top advisers want to side or compromise with all the nazis occupiers?

that's just a quote from a battle rap i saw on youtube one time so i'm just fooling around. i don't actually know how to respond to or comment on that in a serious manner

i have faith that it is, at least for the time being, unknowable whether a god or gods exist and to assume otherwise is arrogant and often stems from "i want to live forever"

I believe Marines would have taken Japan without the A-Bomb.

But..

I think science is based in war. Alfred Nobel felt so guilty about dynamite that he made the Peace Prize.

i fail to see how this plays directly into religion unless you're just trying to discredit science as a whole and therefore jeebus is undeniable.. but war breeds innovation in general for better or worse. obviously the world would be better off without weapons of mass destruction

I stopped drinking the christian koolaid a few years ago after believing there was a god for most of my life. Once I abandoned my faith, I have noticed that I am more successful financially than I have ever been, doing better with each year than the last, I do almost all of the exact opposite of the ten commandments and I am a happier man. It's like I sold my soul to the devil and it feels damn good

I'm banned from my local church due to a simple misunderstanding...

Apparently I was told to 'Go over there and take a pew'...

But I heard it differently & so the matter is now in the hands of the Police...

If you're going to feel better, then you should go, why not. I love the wording - 'TRY a few churches' :D

Anyone recall the scene from Omen - where Gregory Peck tries to take Damien to the church for the first time?

That's me and church.

While the collection plate most certainly was passed around, I do not recall even once the priest/minister even mentioning it.

The priest used it as hush money for the altar boys.

baptist (southern or 1st depending on your taste) is probably the most fun if you just want some preaching and socializing. they don't get too serious about eating bread chips and telling you that you are destined for hell.

as far as god existing or not? who the hell cares? that's not the reason for the OP. it sounds like the OP is lonely.
