Man picked up girlfriend from jail in stolen truck
Tempe patrol officers pulled over a man driving a stolen truck as he went to pick up his girlfriend from jail Monday, police said.
A patrol vehicle's license-plate reader alerted officers to the stolen truck as it drove past police headquarters near Mill Avenue, said Lt. Michael Pooley, a Tempe police spokesman. The officers took the driver into custody. Pooley said the man told police he had borrowed the vehicle to pick up his girlfriend from jail.
