Republicans reject gun control bill to stop terrorists from buying guns
This bill would have simply have closed the background check loophole and prevent people on the no fly list from purchasing guns.
Why do Republicans want terrorists to be able to buy guns? GOP = Guns Over People Senate GOP rejects Dem gun amendments |

Sounds like a clusterfuck dems attached those amendments to the defunding planned parenthood bill which BO has promised to veto anyway.

A purely symbolic political vote, completely meaningless since it was going to be vetoed anyway

Missed opportunity by the GOP...because they could have allowed the amendments, and then call Obama's bluff regarding his threat of veto. If Obama still vetoed the bill, then the GOP would have an easy attack issue: "OMG!! Obama (and by extension all Democrats) care more about killing babies than protecting US citizens from terror!!!!".
But maybe the GOP legislature was afraid that Obama would actually signed the bill, thus making it look like the GOP was in favor of a "liberal agenda". |

They should just make murdering people illegal too. This would stop it immediately since nobody wants to break the law.

You guys realize that anyone can be placed on the no fly list with no recourse and no way to even find out why? I despair as to how trusting so many of you seem to be in the government.

And I despair of your despair, sir! I'm sure the 5 trillion we've lost on useless foreign wars will turn up any day now, washed and folded.

Because being on the no-fly list means the government has a suspicion you might commit a terrorist type crime in the future.. Where as being arrested means the government has probable cause to believe you already committed a crime.

Yep - I heard about this today. In the middle of YET ANOTHER shooting in the US, Republicans again, fail to do a damn thing about it.

Good question. Maybe its strictly a legal thing. Maybe there is enough evidence to keep someone off of a plane but not enough to arrest them and keep them in jail? Who knows.

Gun violence has gone down in the last few decades, despite more people owning guns. More guns equals less crime, that is a fact. Of course government will not accept this so they are doing everything they can to ban guns from spinning statistics, to staging gun deaths (like Sandy Hook) to brainwash people into wanting more gun control. I suspect before the 2016 presidential election we a going to have more "incidences" of gun violence to help drive the election to the Democrats, or distract the public from other stories like Hillary's emails.

The American Civil Liberties Union, which estimates that the watch list includes more than 1 million names, calls it a "virtually standardless" dragnet that "ensnares innocent people and encourages racial and religious profiling." Although the list is supposedly limited to people "reasonably suspected of being involved in terrorist activity," something like two-fifths have "no recognized terrorist group affiliation."
Since innocent people who end up on the list have little recourse, it is neither fair nor reasonable to strip them of their constitutional rights. While people convicted of felonies or facing felony indictments are barred from buying guns undercurrent law, not even an arrest is necessary to put someone on the watch list. . |

!. It's already been understood that innocent people will be on the no-fly list. That's why those people are suspected of possibly planning a future crime...suspects are always legally deemed innocent until conviction. 2. Although a lower court has ruled no-fly list unconstitutional, the issue has not reached the SCOTUS yet, so the answer to that has not been fully determined. |

Because the USA does not deport people simply for being suspected of thinking about committing a future crime...and for those suspects born in the US, its illegal for the government to deport those US born citizens anyhow...where would they deport them to in the first place?

am i getting your logic? you do realize it's simply a fact he's sharing right? sporting goods retailers, the NRA and the GOP are not in cahoots to propel mass shootings as a marketing program to increase gun sales. you do know that right? |

I do know that the NRA is ran by gun manufacturers and of course the totally insane Ted Nugent. And yes, they have a vested interest in selling more guns. Their whole purpose is to create fear to sell more weapons, you don't have to be a genius to figure that one out. ---------------- ?You can see after a tragedy, there?s also a lot of buying,? Jeff Buchanan, the chief financial officer of Smith & Wesson, said two years ago. Last year, Tommy Millner, the chief executive of Cabela?s, a retailer that sells guns, boasted at an investor conference in Nebraska that his company made a ?conscious decision? to stock additional weapons merchandise before the 2012 election, hoping President Obama?s reelection would result in increased sales. Not only was Obama reelected, but a gunman opened fire later that year at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., and ?the business went vertical.? James Debney, Smith & Wesson?s chief executive, told investors in 2013 that ?the tragedy in Newtown and the legislative landscape? resulted in sales that were ?significantly up.? |

none of that has any bearing on the fact that those retail execs are simply stating a fact, their sales go up after a shooting.
speaking of facts, i don't think nugent runs the NRA |
