Now I think about it, the change that they applied involved 2 steps:
- removing the 30 seconds delay on cb affiliate links
- disabling affiliate links on whitelabels

So the move is still in favor of broadcasters though it makes an attempt at protecting webmasters and affiliates in general.

By using a url shortner, they don't benefit from part of the change (the removal of the delay).

It seems cb check the url pattern to detect affiliate links, they could add a check on the final destination also ... or remove url shortners/masking of destination.

Yes, this is one of the scenarios I described above. She is using a URL shortner, therefore it is clickable on wl also, however there is a delay.

cb has that by design, you're better off filing a feature request or a bug about that particular workflow rather than against the model.

How can you promote chaturbate? You can not use Cam girls photos or use cam girls names on your websites. It's sick the number of DMCA you get once you start promote them even using their stage names !

This is not specific to cb though the thing with them is there is content owned by them as well as content owned by the models.
Cam sponsors must step in and help affiliates when the content reported is theirs (ex: cb embed cams)

With regards to chaturbate, you can use live transient content coming from the promotools (embed cams (iframes), whitelabels, and any fields coming from the API baring in mind the images coming from it are allowed for the duration of the live show).

It is not allowed to use other data from their bio: about me, photos etc... Definitely not allowed to post snapshots of shows.

This last bit is where both broadcasters and webmasters get confused sometimes since the model's biography contain both material owned by chaturbate (and allowed to webmasters) such as "name", "username", "room subject" or "age" and material owned by the model (her menu, pics, ..).

So in theory it is not complicated, but in practice you have to count in some erroneous interpretations: some models don't know that webmasters are authorized to create pages using chaturbate promotools or they type their name in google and file in bulk against all URLs they find mixing perfectly valid promotions with piracy sites (recording of pvt shows).

There are also models that perform on several cam sites, that causes further confusion to some. For example, a model that perform on a site that allows webmasters to download a profile picture! Then the model who is also on cb sees the photo and believes this is a dmca violation when in fact the picture is owned by the original cam site (model agreement) that authorize the webmaster to use it (terms).


Either your cam sponsor will help you with the erroneous dmca or you have to find an alternative. One solution (rather tedious) would be to enable an opt-in functionality on your site, so that model would proactively opt-in to be promoted. Even then ...


Another thing that would be cool is a tool for cb models to upload content they agree to be used by webmasters. That'd be a feature request for the cb folks.

I'll never understand the trends in chaturbate. I thought everything with Stats was getting better again, had a good 2nd Period of June and July was a blast with lots of spenders. What followed in the first 6 days of August is that almost all those spenders are gone and my earnings have decreased to -80% if i compare it to the month before August O___o

If they're offline, it will show "Model is Offline" in the live feed. It is true that the other info is then missing (ex: room subject), but that seems unreasonable to file a dmca because of that field. Ask support.

Now in practice, there will be models who file a dmca, no matter what. If you are genuinely promoting their platform you should ask support what they can do against erroneous dmca because it is preventing you to promote them.

Same here, I had multiple spenders across 3 different CB white labels that for months would almost daily make the max purchase of $320 ($64 commission) worth of tokens. On Aug 1st, it all stopped, not 1 max purchase in the first 8 days of Aug. I made the same in the last 2 days of July as the first 8 days of Aug.

You make good points, here are my 2c:

Only a handful of services run the mass automation you mentioned. So the number is not a factor.

My opinion is that if sponsors would step in they could actively help in ordering what seems to be a big mess. It would cool things down and help everyone.

Aside from that, a promotool is an extension to the cam sponsor, it is a piece of them placed on someone else's website. Why wouldn't they step in to protect what is theirs.


It will work in most cases but the keyword here is "most". Consider the following:

- a counter notice is an escalation of a legal process. Essentially, it is the last step before law suit. Who wants to get closer to a potential 6 months law suit to figure out that they were right. All this for an iframe or a picture that came from an API.

- attorneys don't work for good guys, they work for guys with money so the argument that you can do what you want when you feel you are right is not practical.

- who can claim to be an expert, what if there's a glitch
(I am not giving examples here, but I can think of obvious possible ones)

- what if you need cb to vouch for you in a somewhat stressful situation, you are going to "send an email to support"?
