Hey TeenCat! I agree, but why advertise as HD if it's not? I enjoy homemade too, but with mobile phones being able to shoot in 4k these days, why not have amateur HD content if the technology exists?

720p (true), 1080p (true) 1920x1080 would fill your screen and show as a quality stream, like youtube would (assuming your screen is 1080p).

First, "HD" is just a nice buzzword.

In reality, most sites can support true HD. Our own software supports it really well. The limiting factor isn't software or servers, its poor quality cameras used by models and / or slow computers used by models and / or low speed low quality Bandwidth that the models have access to.

It's also bad lighting: Models who chat in low light force the camera's software to compensate by slowing down the shutter or using some software tricks to lighten the image. This is already tough because a webcam's iris is tiny to begin with. The result is a lower resolution image with bad color, motion blur, and other unwanted artifacts & noise.

Cam models can improve everything by doing the following:

- Use a camcorder with a wide aperture and good lens
- Use a video capture card
- Use a fast, modern desktop computer. (Laptops reduce CPU speed to save battery life, which hurts video quality)
- Use some good lighting. Make your room nice and bright.
- While you're at it, invest in a decent microphone.
- While you're at it #2, Turn off your music, look into the camera and pay attention to your customer.

Yes it could be a number of factors. Just this morning a top model on CB was saying she had an HD camera, but couldn't use the HD setting because her internet connection was too slow. Good PC and fast internet is crucial.

I have seen really good quality streams on CB, and i could be wrong but I think MFC reduces the quality some, never seen a great stream there.

If you compare HLS or Flash live video to pre-recorded MP4 video definition you are going to be disappointed in the HD stream quality.

MPEG-DASH live video offers a lot of improvement. We are heading in that direction and will be broadcasting that way this year -- perhaps in MPEG-DASH EME (encrypted media extensions).

The other factors are beyond our control -- the equipment and stream broadcast by the models. We can currently accept 720p and 1080p but the FPS IO is dependent on a lot of variables.

remember the adage garbage in = garbage out HD quality has nothing to do with anything in camming really the quality depends entirely on the camera, the capture mechanism, the codec and the UPLOAD speed from the model.

I agree with what the others said.
In the cam site we can simply change the capture resolution and quality, but higher than 800x600 it tends to kill the pc of the models. Also consider most models splitcam to 3+ sites at the same site, to make more money (yes, they are greedy)
