Ok so there are 292 million different combos.
The 1.5 billion will be about a billion lump sum of cash.
After taxes you have 620 million.
This of course if nobody wins but you. That is the gamble.
If you buy every combo you spend almost 300 million but for fuck sakes the numbers have never been 1,2,3,4,5 or 13,14,15,16,17 and so on so you don't buy anything like that and you cut out about 40 million tickets.
Also if you buy every combo you would win the million dollar prize 24 times as well
So you spend 250 million.

You win 620 million and another 24 million in 2nd place winning.
Probably another 2 or 3 million getting 4 of 5 right a shit load of times.
So 650 million at least.
Even if one other person wins and you only get 310 + the 40 million in other winnings you still profit 100 million.

The only problem is I think it would take months to print that many tickets off so you would have to have an organized group all over the place buying thousands and thousands of tickets non-stop. Maybe even 1000 people.

Ok who is in this with me? My idea your 250 million to invest? I will do the grunt work and we split the profit.

Ok one small problem, I just realized the tickets are 2 dollars each so it would cost around 500 million doing it my way. Or just take a chance and only get half the tickets. So it is like flipping a coin to make 400 million or having to kill yourself after you lose

many of them will have been purchased, you can't control for that. Even if you could, lump sum is 806 million, and after taxes (fed, state) amount < 486 mil, so, even if you could buy them all, you still lose.

That scenario might be possible if it goes up again, but you'd need agents stationed at EVERY vendor with precise detailed instructions via their phone, and no mistakes. The profit might be 500 million, with $200 going to each of your agents and $125,000,000 to you. Assuming you had the $500 mil it took to set that all up. You could also just buy a hotel in Cuba.

I haven't left my house in years to buy tickets, fuck lines. I buy right online which is nice cause then ya don't have to run to the store for small earnings they just drop right into my account. Also no way to lose a ticket if you did hit it big. Started buying online years ago after I would find random tickets all over the place for small amounts that had expired already. With the current jackpot if your state doesn't have online buying I wouldn't wait till Wednesday night to buy as lines probably be like free hookers/blow/pepsi handout.

First of all it is not serious. Anyone who has 300 million to piss away buying tickets would not be that stupid to risk it for such a small return. You would have to rely on thousands of people to help make it happen. It just can't happen.

I recall that it has been tried (I don't remember where I read it, but I thought it was a California lotto a number of years ago). It is actually a successful strategy-concept. There is no doubt that at this level, there is a positive expected value (return on investment).

However, there are indeed many errors in your methodology. For one, you cannot omit any numbers just because they are "unlikely" 1,2,3,4,5,6 is just as likely as any other 6 number combo. The only issue with it is that it is either never played by a typical player (so it has a better chance of winning you 100%) or it is always played by many players (in which case your EV is very low). Either way, you have to do every possible combo to avoid a catastrophic loss.

You also grossly underestimate the winnings from hitting 3 number combos and similar low-number "money-back" kinds of winnings. That will return most of your money.

But, of course, the real issue is that without approval (which you can't get) there would be no way to coordinate a purchase and execute in time. Too bad,

I bought $20 worth of tickets the other day and I wasn't expecting to win and it's only $20. I'll throw another 20 at it this week cause it's not going to break me. Last night 4 or 5 people won a million matching 5 numbers. That would be cool and your odds are a lot better to win that.
