Have you been to a chiropractor before?

Hey, haever seen a chiropractor? My pain getting to where it's hard to breathe. Saw one today and spent $25 just to have my neck cracked. Supposedly it was a discounted price. Wants me to go twice a week. Honestly didn't feel like it was even worth the drive. Wondered if you had any experience with them.

I've got pain from my neck down around my back and shoulder and can feel it pinching inside my lung. Another runs from my lower spine down through my leg.

The pain has progressed over the years and finally getting to the point where I'd rather die than live with it.

I got more relief from acupuncture than I did from the chiropractor.

You shouldn't be getting any part of your body "cracked".

I went once when I was 16 and the chiropractor then asked my mom what our school's football schedule was so he could watch me play. Never went to a chiro after that.

I've gone a few times. Upper back pain can be easily corrected by a chiropractor. Just don't let them make regular followup appointments for you. Go until you're feeling better and then stop. They love to try to rope you into weekly appointments.

i've been suggested to see a chiropractor but neglecting it, my thinking that they use force without seeing exactly what an issue or problem may be. too risky since central nervous system is right there.

shoulders, upper back - i do push ups and pull ups.
search youtube for some exercises for your neck
for lower back i do different kinds of stretches borrowed from yoga. there could be various issues, for instance weak psoas muscle or sciatica (compressed spinal nerve root), osteoporosis, osteosclerosis - it all basically comes down to weak muscles/bones due to comfortably sitting all the time being laid back which removes any pressure from the lower back and degrades it.
with regular fitness and exercises you could start feeling better. just be careful and don't do any (extreme) weight lifting before you get in better shape and of course it's a good idea to consult a doctor.

> Another runs from my lower spine down through my leg.
this sounds exactly like sciatica, google it. also may be affected by weak psoas muscle.

all these back issues are signals that you need to get in better shape asap > thighs, hips, lower back, abs, upper back, chest, shoulders and neck. i'd recommend looking into yoga specifically into stretches and pilates.
good luck!

They're a scam

My mother went to one. He could cure ANYTHING and EVERYTHING.
Folks at my parents church were convinced she killed my step father by making him go and not going to a heart surgeon.
I had to threaten my parents with a restraining order after Mom took my son. Quack claimed he had bent legs and would be unable to walk in a year or two. Funny, he ran x-country in school and played soccer.
Convinced my wife to go. He was going to "help" her have a baby. Told him to drop dead. He took a full x-ray and showed her a black spot, said it was a cyst and she would die without his treatments. She called her regular doctor and he laughed and said he bet she took a shit when she got home. Said it was gas, shows on x-rays regularly.

Might look for an osteopath. They have a medical degree and can adjust you like a chiropractor if it would help.

I see one regularly now, but have visited them off and on for 25 years or more. Lately, on top of all my usual back pain stemming from past surgeries, wear and tear, etc, I've been plagued with bad sciatica (vicious pinched nerve down the left leg), and there's a twisting lower-back-cracking move my chiro does that is the only thing that eases it off.

I'm also seeking input from a thoracic surgical specialist about a possible surgical solution but for now I go to the chiro every 2 weeks.

I had similar issues... It's probably a good idea that you visit him at least 2-3 more times, since it's not likely that anyone is going to make you feel better after one visit. Just my 2 cents based on personal experience.

Chiro worked like a charm for singer Alannah Myles.

Alannah Myles shares tragic health news with Canada day crowd - 680 NEWS

...except for the can't-barely-walk anymore part.

After an experience I had with a brutal sciatic condition (required surgery and months of physio-therapy) - I swore I'd never visit another fucking chiropractor again.

Yes, and he ended up doing more damage than good. I had issues with sciatica pain, and he went through this entire rigmarole about how one of my legs was shorter than the other, I had hip displacia (which I thought only large dogs got), and how I had to come see him at least once a week, but he suggested twice a week. Maybe I was lucky and got one of the "really qualified" ones, but I started seeing a massage therapist and I'm as good as ever.

Anyone see a problem here? If it took a couple years for a doctor to take care of me I would have moved on to a real doctor. 25? Never going to happen.

Got in a car accident years ago and the car rolled over 3-4 times so lower back pain/tightness. Would pop it myself and then it would tighten up again every few hours. Finally said fuck it, dude did an x-ray and then basically just one small adjustment that took 2 seconds. I scheduled an hour massage with chick right after he was done. Walked out to my car and damn near fell asleep. Combo of pop an hour massage lasted quite a few months of relief. Should have probably kept going back every 6 months or so but only went the one time.

On the flipside my dad went to a different guy and dude fucked him all up.

So guess ya gotta pick a good one.

I agree with this, I think it's a case per case basis - the doc gets either lucky or unlucky, fixes you or fucks you up. We don't have alot of them here and the wiating list is like 3 months, so I just do massages.

I go about once a month, but I really like and trust my guy. They are like any professional service. Some are good, some are not and some just want to make money.

For me, I just know if I go regularly, I don't get migraines.

Went one time last year due to a recurring issue in my shoulder/back from the working out. I left in more pain than I went in with and didn't feel comfortable at all during the visit. I prefer physiotherapy over chiro, I don't think I would ever visit a chiro again unless it was a last resort.
