Young Democrats Flock to Bernie Sanders, Spurning Hillary Clintonâ??s Polish and Poise

Bernie Sanders has inspired a potent political movement among young people today. College students wear shaggy white “Bernie” wigs on campus, carry iPhones with his image as their screen saver and flock to his events by the thousands.

And armies of young voters are turning what seemed like a long-shot presidential candidacy into a surprisingly competitive campaign.

“He may seem like some old geezer who doesn’t care about stuff,” said Caroline Buddin, 24, a sales associate in Charleston, S.C. “But if you actually give him the time of day and listen to what he has to say, he has a lot of good ideas.”

It's not what he's proposing to do with education, it's how he's proposing to do it. If Sanders wins the presidency, this promise of a free education will be the albatross around his neck. The same way "free" universal healthcare was for Obama.

Bernie is making promises he simply can't keep. And at the end of the day, there is going to be heaping servings of ass fuckings going around for all of us. Once bitten, twice shy. Obama bit us, and I'm not dumb enough to go back for seconds.

Fucking free loaders. My friends daughter in-law has been in school for 9 years. Bitch has masters in 18th century literature and some home economics bullshit. She wants her debt erased and continue her education for doctoral because she knows the only job for her is to pour fancy coffee for living. They should all move to russia and live with cyberseo's mother in their 2 bedroom apartment.

Anyone who is not "owned" to outside money has my vote.
Bernie or Trump
But what do you do with the Congress ?
Not enough independents going to run.
I will continue to vote everyone out on their rear till something changes. All I really have is my VOTE !

I don't really care what party they claim as home.
It's just a different melody with the same beat and sounds more like a broken record.

Bill Maher had a good point last night. He said something along the lines of "First she loses to a black guy with a muslim middle name -- now she's having trouble against a 72 year old socialist Jew. We're trying to make this very easy for you Hillary."

They have created millions of jobs in China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, India, Philippines, Korea, and anywhere there are workers who will work for $2 an hour.

Plus jobs in the US, MacDonalds, KFC, Walmart, and Tax Lawyers.

So the key is to vote for the politicians who won't change a thing. So nothing changes and the course is held steady and true.

Education should be free up to High School. Free college education for the Sciences should be offered to pupils with the exam diplomas required and not the parents who can afford to pay for them. This will provide us with more people like those at Apple, Microsoft, Boeing, etc. Or see those jobs go East to their funded students.

Which will make it easier as the factories are there already.

The mess Obamacare became, shows how bad things are. Americans are ass raped for their health care. Moving to the model the rest of the modern world has would save people money, but lose corporations and businesses a lot of money.

So be sure to vote for the same again. To be sure nothing changes.

There are a growing number of people in this country that look around and see that getting a long lasting career and "The American Dream" of a decent house and a decent middle class life are getting harder and harder to achieve. They see the growing wealth gap and they decide that they would rather pay a little more in taxes and get free stuff (like college education and healthcare) so someone like Sanders who offers things appeals to them.

There will be more of this. Unless this country makes a change and corrects many of the bad economic decisions that have been made over the last 30 years we will see a larger number of these types of candidates and a larger number of people willing to support them.

Personally, I think eventually our country will end up having a version of European Socialism you see in many countries. It may not happen in the next 5-10 years, but unless there are some major changes made it will happen.

That was true back in the day when a high school education assured one of qualifying for a half decent job.

That's no longer the case. Not even close. Times change.

Perhaps it's time that public policy reflected as much.

Why not pay for more Science Students in order to train more people who will come up with the products that will make America greater?

One can never have enough in the fields of Science.

As for education up to High School. Why not more funding to raise the education level of the US?

As the pool of people earning less than the average wage grows. This is inevitable, America isn't immune.

Kind heart migration policies, will deter the lower paid from voting for a candidate. We're seeing this across Europe with the Policy of open borders.

I predict another Democrat President. If the House of Representatives vs Senate are dominated by Republicans. It will be another 8 years of stalemate and the US along with the West will suffer.

The biggest harm to the West has been manufacturing moving to the Third World.

These clearly show where our money has gone.

Even the EU can't stop that if we keep buying from the Third World. This is Foreign Aid in the tune of trillions per year. How has it effected the wealthy? How has it effected the security of the West?

While our leaders squabble over little things. The problem is clear.

This has taken over 50 years. I saw it in the late early 70s. When clothes were in wholesalers cheaper than we could but the cloth to make them in the UK. By the end of the 70s, the UK Garment industry was destroyed. 10,000s lost their jobs.

This was followed by, bikes, cars, white goods, electronics, plastics, Iron, steel, aluminum, textiles, cement, chemicals, toys, electronics, rail cars, ships, aircraft, etc.

Quote:
China has become a preferred destination for the relocation of global manufacturing facilities. Its strength as an export platform has contributed to incomes and employment in China.
These were our wages and jobs.

So who has won from this?

Not the average Third World citizen. Most of these countries have terrible poverty outside the cities and often inside them. The Upper-middle Class and the Wealthy have done very well. In the West, the gap between the rich and the rest (our customers) has widened. Which is great if you sell yachts, expensive cars, etc. Not so good for those selling $30 membership products bought with disposable income.

And yet all the politicians tell us free trade is good. Because it allows a company based in the US, to have their products made in the Third World for pennies, and sold in the West for Dollars.

Total your sales to the Third World and see how great the system works.

And while this is happening, migration of the poor to the West is increasing. Export Jobs X Import Cheap Labour = Revolution.

The object of manufacturing goods, whither they be intermediary component parts or finished products, should be delegated to the most cost efficient and reliable quality producers. Who wants to buy a USA made tablet for $900?

If the USA is interested in life quality advancement and occupational advancement: The people with the education and experience that leads to low skill-set manufacturing work are obsoleted by lower cost and more efficient global workers. We need free occupational education to qualify people, younger students as well as re-trainable adult workers, for contemporary post-industrial society's new jobs. There will always be work in the building trades, capital goods maintenance and repair -- and sweeping floors and waiting tables, fast food and lower paying retail trades. So, if that is all your education will allow you to do -- you made your choices now live with them.

A college degree in general bullshit will qualify its recipient to end up in waste-case soylent green future. On the other hand, someone with a contemporary, and relevant, occupational education, for example; as a transport mechanic or a computer coder will always have a decent paying job -- that is a post-industrial world education.

In a post-industrial society you do not need assembly line workers or lathe operators like we needed in 1950. Those jobs still exist but in Asia delegated to the most cost-efficient lower paid workers. If you want work in those occupations move to China compete with the workers there -- they have your skill-set ... But their reward is an extra fish head in their rice bowl ...

Sorry, I don't want the tax of a $900 tablet when I can get one for $100 to $300 made in China. This sort of thing is a hidden tax -- pay more for goods to employ domestic workers who for all purposes are overpaid and government-policy-subsidized with a low skill set.

I agree fully with spending money to train more people in the science industries. To work in Silicon Valley for instance. Building cars will increasingly be done by machines. We need to be paying students to study how to build and improve these machines.

Still with China now in the Space race, building planes for Boeing and Aerospace, Drugs, chemicals, banking, and anything else they decide to turn their hand to. What jobs, do you expect will be there for 30 million people in the US alone?

Waiting tables won't work if there aren't enough rich people to eat out. Nor will selling webcam be so profitable with fewer people with enough disposable cash to spend. And many of the jobs you think people can be retrained for. House building requires a lot of people with a very high salary to buy the houses.

Look at the trends and see where they're going. You may end up without enough money to buy a $300 tablet if you don't have enough customers in the US to buy private chats.

We are starting to see a trickle of that Asian buyer revenue for cam shows. I have some Chinese businessmen and Gulf States ''persons'' spending some serious money.

We can make a good profit on the volume with lower cost ''labor'' at lower price points with some of the new broadcast technologies coming into the market.

McJobs are for people with McSkills. US politicians can promise what ever will get them votes. When they get elected they will hit the brick wall that is there.

That's no longer the case. Not even close. Times change.

Perhaps it's time that public policy reflected as much.
That's what scholarships and community college is for. Not everyone is capable of being a Paul Markham or a rocket surgeon.

I tell this story over and over again on GFY....

My cousin recently got married to a beautiful woman. They both just graduated college last year.

My cousin is about thirty, comes from a poor household (single mom who had four kids), went to California State University, San Bernardino, and studied accounting. He got a number of small scholarships, worked full time at Nordstrom's selling shoes, and then later on as a teller at Bank Of America. At the same time he worked in the student store which went directly to his college costs, and had free room and board because he worked as a dorm supervisor. When he left college he had paid his college education in full. He went on to work for Intel in their mergers and acquisitions department, and just recently moved over to Netflix where he controls budgets for new shows.

His wife came from a moderately wealthy family, lived with her parents, drove her brand new car to school every day, had a part time job here and there. She owes nearly $100k in school loans, and is lucky if she is going to make $60k a year.

This is what America is all about. My cousin went from working at In & Out Burger to making mid six figures working for two great companies in four years, and did it with no college debt while supporting himself.
