The thing I don't get is how did the neanderthals warm up the planet during the ice age?

Maybe they were actually industrialized/an advanced civilization and polluted the earth on purpose to cause a warming planet.

No way the ice caps melting could have happened naturally.

I don't mind all the theory's but...
Theory's are hypothetical's from facts. It's all about how you connect the dots.

Just because you can jam a puzzle part together, it does not mean it was meant to fit. Never dispute the facts, dispute how they are connected.

bad news liberals. there is no man-made solution to man-made global warming without paring the human population by about 90% or so.

so mark price advocates killing billions of people so the climate stops changing. you know, because it was stable for 4 billion years until republicans were invented.

Mark Prince..reread what you linked to.

It's not the "warmest winter EVER". It was the warmest they have had in the 20th century in the U.S.
It's called WEATHER.

The winter of 2014/2015 (last winter) was the warmest ON RECORD (meaning since 1880)
And it was 1.42 degrees Fahrenheit above the AVERAGE temperature from 1900 to 1999

I'd love to find a list of all the winter temps by year for the last 100 years to really show how this is a bunch of NOTHING...but I can't seem to find that when I search for it.
I guess that's the kind of info that isn't made readily available.

But yeah Mark, it was almost 1 and a half degrees warmer than the AVERAGE temp for winter of the 20th century.

Having said that...the Eastern U.S. has been paralyzed with massive winter storms the entire season.

And remember this prediction from The New York Times just 2 years ago:
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/08/op...snow.html?_r=0

Yep, the Alarmists predictions NEVER come true. lol

Fucking Tesla! Assholes
Electric cars are only as clean as the electric grid they run off of, and in Singapore, that means one owner?s Tesla Model S is getting fined for producing too much CO2. Here?s how they came to this figure for what is ostensibly a zero-emissions vehicle.

The fine comes from Singapore?s Land Transport Authority, or LTA, which gives fines or rebates depending on how much (or how little) pollution a car emits. According to the LTA?s calculations, the Tesla Model S produces the equivalent of 222g/km of CO2, which is enough to categorize it as a serious polluter.

we don't have enough data. also you can't predict the future. only thing we can do is make a hypothesis. just like the ice age we can't tell if it will happen again.

I already made you look like a fool when you brought up NASA and said that same "you think your smarter than" nonsense then.

I told you then that the global temperature had only risen 1.53 degrees Farenheit (0.85 degrees Celcius) since 1880 (when the first primitive global temps were recorded)

You got all snarky and told me that I must think I'm "Smarter than NASA"

I then SCHOOLED your ass by linking straight to NASA which said the same thing.

You ran off at the mouth then (and now) without even bothering to check the source yourself Mark.

Bottom Line:
ACCORDING TO NASA AND EVERY OTHER AGENCY OUT THERE...THE GLOBAL TEMPS HAVE RISEN 0.85 DEGREES CELCIUS SINCE 1880

And that my friend is your world-ending "man made' climate change that is putting BILLIONS of dollars into the pockets of Al Gore and his cronies.

Now deny that number. I DARE you.
Or do YOU think you are smarter than NASA?

Sorry brother. Unfortunately it has been far warmer in the past and as in the present. If you check there language. What they tried to say is in recorded weather. They've only been actually recording it for 30 or 40 years. Up until that all the data is been from Ice cores or tree rings. But what you should be asking is why are they spending so much time in lying to everybody. I believe it has something to do with the over three billion dollars a year that the u.s. government gives out to the global warming community and the UN. I really believe they want to keep that money coming. So they have to somehow try to convince everybody there is a global warming. They even had to change the name to climate change because global warming indicates that it's warming. but it's not.

Whatever the cause it's happening. And very little is being done to prepare us for the consequences.

But don't worry, it will be your grandchildren who get hit by the worse effects, food prices will skyrocket, millions will die and wars will grow.

We know it happens periodically, we know pollution is contributing to it.

We also know the World is accelerating into the abyss without and thoughts of slowing down. Which will result in mass extinctions and billions of lives lost.

Water will become the most sought after natural resource to drink and provide food. Its scarcity will kill billions and make food very expensive. All made far worse by the growth in population numbers.

Pollution will continue to contribute to the effect as we demand more and more. Much of which we don't need and discard. And produced in countries that are the worse polluters.

Anyone who compares today with the past is missing the truth.

At no time in the past did the Earth have to support so many.

winter ends on March 20th....
This article was posted on March 8th, which means that at most they took into account temperatures stats until March 1st...

Winter is 3 months = 90 days
They remove 20 days out of it so they remove almost 25% of the winter's actual length

How can you jump to conclusion with 25% of the data missing ?

I agree Richard but still....

If i tell my boss "WE HAVE HAD THE BEST WINTER EVER in terms of sales", without letting him know ON PURPOSE that my sales have been down since march 1st, that's not an accurate report and i'll be fired... I mean i believe that journalists should be academically/scientifically correct and "forgetting" 25% of the data is definitely not the right way to tell the news.

my 2 cents

The big scary scenario is 3 degrees c. We are 30% there.

"The most recent era in which the Earth was believed to have experienced temperatures of 3 C above pre-Industrial levels was the Pliocene Epoch ? around 3 million years ago ? according to Gavin Schmidt, director of NASA?s Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

?At that time, there was almost no ice anywhere. The sea level was 20 meters (65 feet) or so higher, and forests went to the edge of the Arctic Ocean where there is now tundra,? Schmidt said."

I think that what he is trying to say, is that a theory is a hypothesis supported by facts and evidence. There are a number of theories throughout history, that were once considered as accepted by mainstream science, that have been superseded as the evidence that once supported the theory was deemed incomplete or obsolete.

the same way the dinosaurs did duh! they ate cows and drove gas powered cars!

My bigger question is how did the continents split? I didnt even think there was fracking back then? Who fracked the continents apart?

This article was posted on March 8th, which means that at most they took into account temperatures stats until March 1st...

Winter is 3 months = 90 days
They remove 20 days out of it so they remove almost 25% of the winter's actual length

How can you jump to conclusion with 25% of the data missing ?

I agree with you, but the article touches on this. They say

"And it's unlikely any last minute freeze will cut this winter's record down to size. Winter this year ends on March 20, a date that is fast approaching. "

Hopefully it will get really cold before March 20th to help squash this report a little, but its unlikely.

I live in Montreal Canada and winter this year has been almost non existent. It usually snows in late October but this year we didn't get our first snow until just after Christmas. Today only about 10 weeks later it is already +8 celsius (46 Fahrenheit) and tomorrow it will be 13c / 55f. As Dynamo accurately pointed out this is mostly due to El Niño, Climate change is worsening the effects. They are already predicting that this summer will be the hottest and driest on record. Yikes.

You mean the same National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration that routinely "adjusts" temperature data to exaggerate warming? Their favourite trick is to take data from the past and adjust it downwards so the current temps seem warmer than they really are. Or in some cases they just cherry pick their data and only show the stuff that feeds the narrative.

Example: NOAA Radiosonde Data Shows No Warming For 58 Years

Of the two graphs spliced together in the image above the one on the right is one that the NOAA just released under the narrative of "warmest ever". The one on the left includes data that they excluded from their release. Hmmmmm, I wonder why?

And how about that ocean "acidification" scare you always bleat on about:

How Scientists Are Exaggerating the Threat of Ocean Acidification

Quote:
An ?inherent bias? in scientific journals in favour of more calamitous predictions has excluded research showing that marine creatures are not damaged by ocean acidification, which is caused by the sea absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. [?]

[A review of the science] found that many studies had used flawed methods, subjecting marine creatures to sudden increases in carbon dioxide that would never be experienced in real life.

?In some cases it was levels far beyond what would ever be reached even if we burnt every molecule of carbon on the planet,? Howard Browman, the editor of ICES Journal of Marine Science, who oversaw the review, said. He added that this had distracted attention from more urgent threats to reefs such as agricultural pollution, overfishing and tourism.

You place so much blind faith in government and scientists that prop up your pet beliefs and causes. Because of you, people like you and the "climate scientists" you blindly follow, science is at risk of becoming irrelevant as argued in this essay:

Global Warming and the Irrelevance of Science

Quote:
In many fields, governments have a monopoly on the support of scientific research. Ideally, they support the science because they believe objective research to be valuable.

Unfortunately, as anticipated by Eisenhower in his farewell speech from January 17, 1961 (the one that also warned of the military-industrial complex), ?Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity.? Under these circumstances, when the government wants a particular scientific outcome the ideal arrangement is vulnerable. However, as I hope to show, the problem is not simply bias.

Rather, the powers that be invent the narrative independently of the views of even cooperating scientists. It is, in this sense, that the science becomes irrelevant. This was certainly the case in the first half of the twentieth century, where we just have to look at Lysenkoism [1] in the former Soviet Union, Social Darwinism, and Eugenics throughout the western world [2], as well as, in the 1960s, the unfounded demonization of DDT [3]. Each phenomenon led to millions of deaths. And, in each case, the scientific community was essentially paralyzed, if not actually complicit.

[...]

Besides all of that what if increasing CO2 and warming is actually a good thing? In the midst of all of this supposed doom the earth is greening, extreme weather is down, polar bears are thriving, growing seasons are extended and life is more pleasant.

The real harm to people and the planet is coming from all of the time, money and effort spent, and wasted, on trying to reduce and mitigate CO2.

I'm pretty sure that all of us EXCEPT Mark Prince studied history in school.

We were all taught that the Earth has warmed and cooled over and over again throughout time.
It's amazing that anyone is falling for the scam of "man-made" climate change.

The "Little Ice Age" ended in the 1860's. The Earth is NATURALLY warming up a bit from that.

And again to be very clear: The Average Global Temperature has only risen 0.85 Degrees Celsius since 1880

That's all.

And also to be very clear: EVERY prediction that has been made about this since the 1970's has been COMPLETELY WRONG.

When does the stupidity stop?

Ok braniac. Answer me this.

When cars burn off gas the gas rises up into the sky, eventually into outer space and into the sun. Tell me what happens when gasoline hits fire? Sun/fire gas/sun

Now think about billions of cars burning fuel sending gas to the sun. Imagine the heat increase. You are going to tell me billions of cars (man made) pollution doesnt cause the temp to heat up? Thats ridiculous!

OMG! I didn't consider that! We are literally making the sun hotter with our excess space gas!

Get Mark Prince on this immediately!

This is a great new revenue stream for Al Gore!

Hey Mark lets not give these big business oil burning loving idiots an inch.

To me its clear El Niño is made up by the oil companies as a trick to try to convince the sheep that weather patterns happen naturally.

Me and you arent sheep like these other idiots on here. I'm with you the entire way buddy!

Fucking Big Oil

I hope President Obama gets on his solar powered Air Force One and flies to Big Oil's hometown and rides over in his solar powered limousine with the 30 solar powered SUVS that always accompany his motorcade and gives them a stern talking to.

Robbie: It's SCIENCE CLASS you should have been paying attention in.

Of course the earth's temperature has risen and fallen. The point is that in the past it went up and down naturally due to forces outside of anyone's control, and did so over millions of years. Today though it is rising because of forces within our control. Even worse, the rise in temperature is happening a lot faster, and the effects of this will be a disaster possibly experienced by you and me, but definitely experienced by our kids and grand kids, unless we do something today.

It's very simple Robbie. The cost of a litre of gas does not include the cost of damage to the environment and illness it causes people. The cost of a kilogram of hamburger meat does not include the cost of environmental damage done by factory farming.

The cost of the damage is showing up in other places. It is showing up in extreme temperatures, extreme weather, coastal flooding, and the death of the oceans. It's showing up in higher medical costs, and more people getting sick.

Take your head out of the sand. Scientists everywhere are raising the alarm bells, but again, you the great Robbie, have convinced yourself that you know better than all of them. Very sad.

It doesn't. We are just going to go further and further into the rabbit hole until the shit hits the fan. There are going to be a lot of bankrupt countries with inadequate energy supply and a lot of pissed off people. And all for nothing.

Well, they did grow grapes in England during the Roman times.

Wow! What a bunch of regurgitated tripe and nonsense. Why don't you just stand on a street corner with a sign hanging over your shoulders that reads "the end is near"?

My heating gas and related electricity use was down 20% so I put 20% less CO2 (carbon) in the air -- ain't life great!

self healing spiral down?
