Your going to spend 1k+ with visa/mastercard fees. Then likely 15% in fees. If I had a merchant account, which I do, I'd bill for your site. Unfortunately my generosity has sailed and no longer give a shit.

Start with Epoch. When you are billing $1000 a month, add CCBill as a secondary and it will pay for itself. When you are billing $10,000 a month, get a merchant account and Rocket Gate and place Epoch and CCBill in secondary and tertiary, respectively, and once again it will pay for itself.

Best of luck!

Neither are free. Adding a secondary will amount to an additional 10% in revenues. That 10% will pay for the costs of the secondary biller. At the $10k mark, processing fees with a merchant account will drop down to the 1-4% range instead of the 15% range with Epoch/CCBill, plus a few additional expenses from the gateway and merchant account bank, but will again pay for itself.

and tbh, before itaboo thinks of going to a billing company, they need to add a 2257 disclaimer at the bottom of every page with content on.

& need to ask the op, why's an image on his website from a cam girl that was booted off the cam site the other day?

Getting a merchant account sounds enticing, because you may get to keep a greater slice of the pie. However, with all the hoops to jump and fees it really isn't worth it until your are well established and making well over 10k a month.

ccBill has it's pros & cons. The pros include thee fact that people might feel safer signing up because it's a trusted brand name. The cons include the fact that you might be paying a higher commission on sales and see a higher chargeback rate as opposed to a merchant account.

Chances are your merchant account is going to be labeled "high risk" from day one if you tell them it's for a porn membership website. They are going to watch you closely over the first year, making sure chargebacks less than 3% and if you aren't making them (basically VISA, MASTERCARD, ETC...) enough money to be worth it, they might drop you like a hot potato.

That additional 10% of revenue is eaten up in your new merchant accounts 10% holdeback that caps at $10k-25k or more and is held until 6 months AFTER your merchant account is closed, never accumulating interest.

You'll have higher chargebacks on merchant accounts and NO customer service.

Lol... mostly wrong also. Explain the higher chargebacks and no customer service. You can't higher people to answer phones and answer emails yourself? Of course you can't because that would require actual logical thinking.

It's not "eaten up," you get it back. That's 10% you are not making now sitting in an account that comes back to you after the cycle. Add to that the increased throughput due to your own scrub settings = short-term loss (set up fees,) long-term gain (significantly lower rates, increased throughput meaning more transactions, increased flexibility with upsells, the list goes on and on.)

You will not have higher chargebacks just because you are on a merchant account. That is due to not having chargeback management knowledge. Both Rocket Gate and NetBilling offer customer support packages that are a mere fraction of the cost that you would pay through the Epoch/CCBill suite.

Merchant accounts are not for everyone. They take work, trial and error, and a lot of headaches. Once you have them nailed, they are a beach house in the Caribbean.

It' $10k-$25k out of your liquidity gone + the yearly Visa/MC fee gone for each merchant account.

You're a good guy I know you're not out to screw anyone in any way I'm just stating things from a merchants perspective, things I wish I would have known before getting my own merchant accounts.

I really am thankful for CCBills consumer customer service. Priceless. After getting your merchant accounts and having to take all the time to deal with customer cancellations, user pass crap, refunds, etc.you quickly appreciate the service they provide.

OrbitalPay is the only other processor I know that offers consumer customer service like CCBILL included with the merchant accounts they offer. The VP @ OrbitalPay, Karen Campbell is so personable & accessible, fucking amazing

I appreciate your "good guy" comment but I have all of the above and then some so I'm not talking out of my ass. Sounds like you are doing something wrong. Maybe you don't have all of the info that you should have.

Your math is straight out incorrect, as are your comments about chargebacks, as are your comments about customer support options.

Epoch/CCBill = 15%.

Merchant account = 3-5% + 10% rolling reserve that you get back.

These are not even comparable. You are not losing $10-25k liquidity because you never had that $10-25k liquidity to begin with using Epoch/CCBill at 15% overall fees. Instead, you GAIN liquidity after the reserve cycles plus increased throughput, plus increased options as far as billing additional elements (upsells, free trials, on and on.)

Not only have I done this myself multiple times but have gotten multiple friends to make the switch and now they are all making $x more than before.

One takes work, you get paid for that work with more money. The other is much much easier and much less stress, and much less money.

Right on I didn't know you were in the merchant account space offering solutions I'm sure whatever it is it's a great deal as you definitely know what you're talking about (no sarcasm)
