yes, it happened to me several times... I wasn't able to recover some older sites even though I disavowed all links.... I was able to recover with site that had some linking domains by disavowing links from spammy sites and directories

current penguin reacts very quickly, so you might be able to find bad domains in webmaster tools -> linking domains -> download latest links

thanks a lot man
do you think this drop is caused due to bad domains linking to my website?

i did check my webmaster tools right now for example this site "generalfil.es" has a lot of links to my website but when i try to reach it, i see warning security errors should i disavow this one?

basically how can i find bad domains? how can i recognize them?

yes, disavow it - domain:generalfil.es

most likely it's caused by bad domains... sudden over-night drops are caused by penguin.

if you are not sure you can help yourself a bit by entering that domain name into Open Site Explorer and look at Spam score... most valuable links are from content in main body of the page...so look for footer links, link farms, blocks of links, automatic sites that collect content from the net and link back, etc. everything that look suspicious

privaxxx: check stats in webmaster tools as well... you can see here impressions, positions and CTR in search analytics... anything changed suddenly?

Have to say that site is only 3 months old. Impressions seem to decrease but the CTR is steady.

you can see that it was just one-time spike.. you average stats are still the same (+your site is very young so it can experience such spikes from time to time)

I didn't change anything SEO-related on my site except the focus keywords for single posts. All backlinks i have are quality links with DA/PA.

The following graphic shows organic traffic to my site for the last 90 days. I don't know how accurate that Wordpress plugin works but as you can see organic traffic was growing very healthy and at some point... crash.

High DA/PA isn't everything. It's just part of the puzzle. I have site with such values and it is definitely not SEO valuable.

- I think that Google just gave away SERP bonus for your new site (occurs for new sites only).
- You may lose some positions due to the change of focus keywords. on your pages
- Google may recognize it as unatural when you gain strong links so early (check your link profile).
- Also depends how fast did you add new content and how. If you add it automatically, it can generate better traffic from the beginning, but when Google recognize it, it will start slowly lowering your positions until it reaches some bottom.
- Young sites with no history are just more unstable and may rise/drop in certain countries a lot. Add international targeting in webmaster tools (preferred country for your target audience).

These are just things that come up to my mind at this moment from my experience. Hope it helps a bit.

The content on my site is made manually. I had some sites running on auto-mode... big mistake, learned a lot about that ^^

Could be possible i gained some backlinks too fast, will check my linkprofile too. You're right, the site is pretty young maybe the newbie bonus ran out. Time will tell.

Thanks for your help & answers!

my website is not young, i didn't change anything on my website but exactly after updating in google penguin algorithm i lost a lot of traffic (about 40% of traffic)
as you see there is no any significant change in my clicks and CTR and impressions but my traffic dropped considerably. it doesn't make any sense

These stats are not that relevant for Penguin, because it's off-page algo. You need to look for bad linking domains and get rid of them.

Do you see any change in your earnings or stats in your ad platform? They filter bad traffic. It happens sometimes that GA reports way more traffic than you actually have because it's some kind of bots or other for me unknown source. It happened on one of my sites too.

yes exactly since two weeks ago my daily revenue from ad networks has fallen by half
actually my website had an unusual increase in linking from two malicious domains "generalfil.es " and "generalfil.xyz' ( more than 300 url linked to my website) i did check domains and i did disavow bad ones
how long does it take google back my traffic?

Some of you need to take a step back and see what Google is trying to achieve.

Don't become immersed in stats at the expense of seeing what's going on. If you're a private individual or small company trying to monetize the web through pornography, then maybe Google wants to kill you off in the same way that Facebook and Tumblr do. Of course it doesn't make sense, because if it did then you'd be able to do something about it

It usually reacts within next crawl of your site.

You can mostly recognize spammy sites at first sight. There are also some paid tools, which I don't use.

I always check several things:
1) is the site indexed? google "site:url"
2) age in whois, check site history in archive.org/web
3) check source of traffic at similarweb.com (should have organic traffic)
4) check pa/da, check trust at majesticseo.com
5) check spam score at open site explorer
6) where is the link placed? most valuable spot is in content (contextual), every other spot is suspicious (especially footers, blocks of links, sitewide)

~10 spammy and malicious sites are linking to my site. Checked all backlinks with the open site explorer, disavowed them and kicked google for a new desktop and mobile crawl. I also removed all popups/popunders.

How long did it take to see some effects after you disavowed spammy links? If i'm correct pengu!n works in realtime now within google core algo so I guess effects should appear soon so long as those spammy links caused the drop.

Yes, now it's part of core algo. It should react within next crawl of your site. I don't think that pops have any effect. At least I never had any issue with them. Let us know your result...

GA can be sometimes messed up. So basically according to Webmaster Tools' clicks there is nothing wrong, but there IS always something wrong, so you should check some things. Anyway here are my thoughts:

1) Google doesn't see your subpages as valuable since it indexes only 50% of your pages. It may slowly decreases the amount of indexed pages = your traffic slowly decreases.

2) Some of the linking sites received penalty and it slowly passes negative points to your domain as well. (links from blogs that are used only to link other sites become "adverts" over time, you should buy blog posts only from blogs that post content with no external links as well -> almost no one in adult do that). Site linking new (low quality) sites from every subpage is suspicious (it doesn't pay for trusted sources like wiki). So you should check if you have such links.

3) Is your site mobile friendly? You may start loosing mobile organic positions.

I have obtained links from two domains in last week and my organic traffic started to behave just like yours. These domains weren't 100% bad, but they had barely some content and only few linking domains with low (3-7) Trust on MajesticSEO. They had good PA/DA ratio, but the value of the link was questionable. My link was on homepage only, but in sidebar (not good position even tho everybody in adult use it). All these factors resulted in negative SEO value. When I removed the links my organic traffic immediately reacted and added +20% over last three days.

NOTE: When you know the date of change in your traffic, you can check with moz.com/google-algorithm-change

regarding to valuable subpages, it always been like this since i've started site, i have some more site but just this one act like this i don't know how can i increase indexed pages?

at this moment i am totally disappointed, i am pretty sure google will take all of my traffic if you search on net you can find a lot of webmaster is complaining about traffic loss most of them lost all of their traffic, they have absolutely zero traffic from google right now
everyday in last two years i posted all these content and tagged all of them manually and google destroyed all of my efforts in less than two weeks

Try not to worry about it just yet . Google is going through some huge algo changes the past week or two and rankings are all over the places. It's an abnormal time period right now when it comes to current Google ranks and when it settles down your traffic will probably come back.

Yes, I'd worry. Your traffic is in negative trend, not some up/down spikes. It's going down (at least in your GA). I had embed tube some time ago - over 7000 added subpages with unique titles and descriptions. It took me 4 years to make it. From 8k/day it went down to 100/day in next 2 years. I've disavowed all links. Nothing helped. But this site was part of PBN links scheme, links from low quality websites etc. for quite some time and it just passed some line that it cannot be recovered again even tho it's not manually marked as spam.

You can send me your site in private msg. I'll look.

I will answer to pornuploader here. He sent me his website.

1) Are you sure that Google can access descriptions below video? (user needs to click a button to access it)
2) There is a lot of popunders. I'd change it to 1 pop only. User experience will go up.
3) Pagination buttons / text can be small on mobiles.
4) Page load speed looks pretty much okay -> improve your htaccess and add Leverage browser caching https://gtmetrix.com/leverage-browser-caching.html
5) Biggest problem in my opinion are your links and its distribution within your link profile. Mostly all of your links point only to homepage (suspicious), mostly all of your links use only 1 type of brand anchor (suspicious, spammy -> brand links are good, but you can't have only 1 variation), you can check it at majesticseo.com. Also you only have links from text, not from images.
6) incoming links seem to come from low quality sites (especially low trust)
7) your spam score at open site explorer is 4/17 which can already receive a penalization, which you probably got
8) it also seems that you link your main site from your other sites, not good idea if you don't cover it...

it so interesting you found some features i have never said to you, yes i linked this domain to one of my other domains and both of them is losing traffic probably its main problem

1: you are right i will change my theme codes and i will remove that button
2: i will decrease pops for a while and i will check google states within several next weeks probably it caused this issue
but there is something weird about some ad networks such as clickadu. during September when i insert clickadu codes on my websites after a few days they start to losing traffic
4: yes i know about this issue, i've inserted this code on htaccess but nothing changed
Code:
<IfModule mod_expires.c>
ExpiresActive On
ExpiresDefault "access plus 1 month"
<FilesMatch "\.(htm|html|php)$">
ExpiresActive Off
</FilesMatch>
</IfModule>
# BEGIN WPSuperCache
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
5 these tips was so helpful i should figure out this one, regarding to images links i usually upload all images on my personal server . it seems i should change my manner
7:disavowing domains could solve this issue?
8: exactly i do, how can i cover this domain?

one more thing
during these weeks i am reading a lot on webmaster forums. it seems google start to serious penalizing dmca content but most of large porn sites such as pornhub are full of dmca materials so google should penalize all of them but i see a lot of warez sites that still keep a decent traffic like rarbg, all of content on this site is dmca but they get more than 100M UV/month

2) their support can switch you to safe feed, your eCPM will go down, but it's worth it
4) This one's mine:
Code:
<FilesMatch "\.(?i:ico|pdf|flv|jpg|jpeg|png|gif|js|css|swf|x-html|css|xml|js|woff|woff2|ttf|svg|eot)(\.gz)?$">
<IfModule mod_expires.c>

    ExpiresActive on
    ExpiresDefault                                      "access plus 1 month"

  # CSS

    ExpiresByType text/css "access plus 1 year"

  # Data interchange

    ExpiresByType application/atom+xml "access plus 1 hour"
    ExpiresByType application/rdf+xml "access plus 1 hour"

5) Images - I don't mean images that you upload on your server. I mean images with <a href="www.yoursite.com" alt="yoursite" target="_blank"><img src="..."></a> that point to your site from other site. You need to use this type of links too.
7) There's a lot of linking domains that I would disavow on your site. The problem is to gather all these links. I think that you don't have some paid SEO tool like ahrefs, so the only thing that left is Webmaster Tools and free SEO tools. It's always best to have Excel file with all links you bought and check new links in Webmaster Tools and other SEO tools regularly. But the answer on your question cannot be answered for sure, since nothing in SEO is for sure. We don't know Google's algo. It's just experience.
8) Sites should be on different hosting, on domains with different WHOIS information, with different theme. Basically nothing should be the same.

Hope it helps a bit.

To be honest I am not familiar with this DMCA issue, but I believe that it was launched like 4-5 years ago.

Is it possible my massive traffic drop is caused by the TH test system? I orderd their test system package a few weeks ago and it is still running.

When i ordered the package i saw something like that;

"This is reuqired to create a mirror of your page for the test."

So, this sounds like the site gets fully duplicated, not good or productive in any way for SEO i guess. Penguin is running in realtime now so that could be legit, what do you guess?

Does anyone here has experience with the TH test system package?

I can't give any advice since I don't know how they do it. But I don't believe that TrafficHolder would create just simple indexable copy of your website. You can post its url if you can or contact their support. But I don't think that this will be the reason of your traffic loss.

hey dude
sorry for bothering you again
i usually register domains with different WHOIS information (even different registrars and private WHOIS) regarding to hosting i usually hide my real hosting behind the cloudflare servers so nobody able to access my real ip and real hosting company but unfortunately my domains are hosted on one cloudflare account as a result they gave me same nameservers for all domains
recently i talked to cloudflare support they said if i create separated accounts for each domain they can provide different nameservers for domains
do you think is it enough for misleading google?

Different IP, different WHOIS info (even better would be to register domain with different domain registrator), different template, different nameservers and backlinks from different domains (the less footprints the better) should be enough.

privaxxx: November 6th no change for me.

How's your declining traffic looking, guys?

It's weird, but I have started to experience the same issue. Over the last month I lost like 50% of my traffic. Anyone found the problem?

I must have missed something.

Now I am trying to figure out whether 404 errors can have some impact. It shows me several errors in WT, but the weird part is that it tries to access pages from my other site, so these 404 are basically non-existent. Must be some DNS mistake or something like that. I have checked my Cloudflare settings and everything seems ok. It appeared just like that from nowhere. Ideas anyone?

Hey guys, having a similar issue here. I have a VR Porn affiliate site that had great traffic and great conversions, up until just a couple of months ago, then all my rankings started to drop and now I'm just not sure what to do.
@RachelBlackG, I'm curious about what you say regarding the 404's. WT shows me several errors as well, but they are for pages that haven't been on my site for well over a year and I can't understand why Google is still trying to crawl them. I use Cloudflare as well.

I am a bit of a noob in all this so I might just be misunderstanding what is going on, but I figured this would be a good point to jump into a relevant conversation and get involved with the community here!

Hi Alexxx!

I have added 301 redirect to all 404 error and organic traffic reacted positively with up-trend for several last days.

Slowly declining traffic is always harder to fix. It might be caused by a lot of things. You can start by fixing 404 into 301 as well. I'd recommend to read this thread and try things suggested above.

Hey Rachel,

Thanks for the response.

I only had two soft 404's in my Search Console, so I fixed them up and in the process realized yoast was indexing both trailing slash and non slash versions of my homepage. Not sure if that would cause traffic to drop or not, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see if fixing it helps. I also realized with the help of other kind people here on the forums that it could be a lack of American links that has my traffic coming from China, so I am trying to build more decent American links, but I'm such a freaking noob at linkbuilding it isn't funny. I run a few sites that aren't in the Adult niche, and the links just come in naturally. I'm really not used to outreach, and just generally unsure of myself when it comes to building links...
Are comment links worthwhile for Adult? How many should I build a day? Are directory submissions good for Adult?
I really just need a step-by-step guide for linkbuilding for Adult sites. There are guides out there, but they all seem to have different ideas of what to do and most of them are not Adult-specific.

Can somebody please give me some tips?

China links: Different geo links definitely affect your position in local Google SERP. I'd also recommend building "American" links.

From my observation there are two types of links that will rank you in adult:

1) blog posts (link from content) from at least average blogs and higher
2) links from very high authoritative sites (can be placed almost anywhere on site)

Very important factor is relevancy of the link.

In most cases blog comments will be no-follow (but you should have some of these as well). I guess that in most cases such link will be considered as spam. Directories can work, but only quality ones and you have to write as long site description as it allows (unique text).

Noted, and appreciated. The problem is, how do I go about getting quality links when most of my traffic is coming from China? Won't that just throw prospective partners off?
I mean, a year ago the site was making a regular 2k or more per month. It still makes money and still sees some 1-2k uniques a day, but the conversions are waaaaay down due to so much of it being Chinese.

Don't panic, Google experiments a lot which can cause a drop in rankings.
